Tearful in London (Tier 4 in London)

So with the Government bashing can anyone suggest how it could have been done any better?

Earlier full lockdowns? longer lockdowns? at the expense of the economy, no lockdowns at all?

All the talk of peoples mental health? is that really an issue? or just another fashionable buzzword, all I hear is people whingeing about their Christmas lunch being cancelled and their 3rd holiday of the year abroad. I do think peoples attitude to the pandemic is skewed :? or perhaps it sums up society today and what's important to the populas.

Not a criticism of comments on here, but as already suggested this has never happened before in living memory so how would you expect a Government to Govern under the circumstances to please everyone?

Tim.
Unfortunately some people find it easier if they have someone or something to blame. The Govt of whatever colour are the easy targets so they get the blame. There is only one thing to blame and that is the Chinese Communist Party who had the chance to shut down Wuhan but chose to let millions travel across the world to celebrate Chinese New Year. That is how I caught it, In Thailand at Chinese New Year.

The village green in Baslow today was just ridiculous, a nice day so hoards of tourists were milling around chatting and strolling into Chatsworth, social distancing wasn’t even considered. There was virtually no wind so the virus would be swilling around being sucked in as easy as breathing, I saw two people wearing masks out of maybe 200.... It’s too stupid for words.

This is what the government are battling, a large number of the population that refuse to do what they’re told or use any common sense. Isn’t hindsight a beautiful thing, and sure some of this could have been handled better, but devil they do devil they don’t whatever they do, I’d like to see any of the moaners in any walks of life do any better, as the saying goes, you’re job is easy until I come to try doing it. I don’t think Johnson rang these planks today and told them to go and mingle as though nothing was happening.
Amen. If only we were blessed with hindsight.

Are you seriously denying that mental health problems exist? If so, may I direct you to the Jonathan Ross show last night, in which someone seen as hugely successful spoke in detail how he planned to end his own life.

You're an idiot for even suggesting people don't have mental health issues

I didn't suggest Ben that mental health issues don't exist or that people don't suffer from mental health probems, not sure how you jumped to that conclusion

Tim.

In 2021 civil unrest will get out of hand real fast if they don't stop the lockdowns imo, watching people flee London like rats off a sinking ship demonstrated that people are no longer willing to cooperate with the lockdowns and accept them as part of life. There is evidence that lockdowns are not effective and obviously the WHO has said that it doesn't advise lockdowns be enacted.

It's fast approaching (arguably long past) the time when a grown up discussion has to be had around "acceptable losses" as grim and callous as that sounds allowing the economy to crumble and borrowing to explode over and over again will lead to far more suffering and likely death in the long term.

Due to the huge rise of the 'new strain' in the UK, everyone is shutting their borders to the UK. Lorries cannot leave or enter, flights are not allowed to land from the UK. This is the problem with the attitude of 'I have it but it doesn't affect me, it certainly won't kill me.' The fact that you have it makes you a statistic that Europe is aware of. The rest of the world has the right idea to contain the virus. Put them all on an island and watch them destroy each other. :D

Just when we thought it can't get any worse!
We've also got the Brexit No Deal debacle to give our problems some added Zizz -

But as the "Brexiteers" said "Ah bur we got our country back"

I detect trouble ahead - Im afraid it's been adequately demonstrated recently that we are incapable of pulling together anymore.

Back in Spring this year, there were so may people in the UK advocating that the UK should close it's borders and shut airports in order to contain C-19. Now that we've effective got this situation, I now see many are up in arms that the UK is now in isolation.

The government just can't win! :headbang:

We haven’t closed our borders - i think others have closed their borders to us just like we should have done !

The vaccine is the only way out yet on a poll on this forum only 70% say they will take it. I’m confused.

The trenches picture sums up a what a ruined Christmas looks like.

Proof that you can't please all the people...

The Vaccine is the best hope of ending this and I have met a few who have said they will not take it, they do not believe that C-19 is real, it is all a conspiracy theory or derived from 5G, they refuse to wear masks or take any safety advice.

Maybe when there is the next demonstrate in London, we should filter them through single file and take names addresses etc. and then if they catch it not treat them as it is not real.

Christmas will be what it will be this year, just have to put a brave face on it and make the best of it as we are not in the trenches about get shot at.

Ill just leave this here - In the main although not in every case
