BUT its a PITA getting those screws out every time you want to change the tax disc.

The Disc holders on Ebay (Richbrook ?) often have a screw off back these days, they are are about £15 - Your correct to say that those little screws are a pain! It wouldnt be quite so bad if they were magnetic!

Found the alloy tax disc holders a complete pain for changing tax discs , so moved onto the magnetic ones - mines a slight variation on Stark's

The screw back types are fine, literally half a turn of the back replace disk and screw back on :)

The old types with the diddly screws would take about 3 hours if you were lucky :tumbleweed:

I have a richbrock twist fit one, doddle to fix, and a nice metallic black matches my car

but there are loads to choose from..

Just an FYI thats how it looks in the car as I posted earlier in the thread..

Would there be much of a call for bespoke magnetic Z4 Forum holders?

There is no denying all these bling jobbies are really super-duper, but I prefer the minimalist approach.

I just get some clear fablon & stick it to rear of tax disc with 1/2" border.
Whack that on the window as tight as possible into corner
All you see then is a "floating" tax disc.
You can tailor it with anything you like for the rear of the disc.

New tax disc?
Peel off old one (preserve in service folder), do it again for new disc.
Cost?
Virtually 0p.
And no extra crud to block your view out of the screen

Each to his own.....

I got a black Richbrook one with a white //M on the back. Looked great. But the sticky pads did not stick whenever it got too hot (in the UK??!!?? - Ridiculous).

Falls off every now and again - a bit irritating.

Make sure the area is properly clean then apply the unit and hold it in position. My holder has been on my D3 for six years now. Sometimes in plus 30 c.temps!
