Tattoo thread

I don't like tattoos but small discreet ones in places generally covered by clothes may be acceptable..on men. And the figure has to be something cool. Just my personal opinion.

Strangely for me its Tattoos on ladies that sits with me so uncomfortably, don't know why? maybe its a femine thing, same with rings through the bottom lip, eyebrow or tongue studs, funny how these things do :|

Tim.

When I was younger every asshole wanted to strike me from the earth for looking different. 13 years later I can't turn a corner without seeing some goon covered in garbage tattoos. Not everyone gets a tattoo for a well thought or what I think is a good reason. Not every one that gets a tattoo is a good person. And is it for everyone...no. And I clearly understand that.

I come from a punk/hardcore background which I could never describe, I could only have lived it. You could look at me and read all of my tattoo work as a beautifully written book. For me it was about wearing my heart on my sleeve. My loves, my hate the injustices in my world, the places I have been traveling with all of my best friends. There is no finer way since I am not an author to express my feelings about the life I've lived, the life around me.

With this being said, for someone to see me and cross the street as if I was a criminal is to judge a book by its cover. IM JUST LIKE YOU, BUT WITH TATTOOS. This is the life I chose this is the life I live and I am grateful for every moment as a "disfigured" person.

chaweiner, Good for you, love the 1 life, 1 chance how so true that is

We are all prejudice in one way or another, it is in our nature, the key is to learn to understand and tolerate your own.

As I mentioned on another thread, the difference between those with tattoos and those with, is that those with tattoos don't prejudge those without. Yes, I have a tattoo, and it only makes an appearance when I have had too much to drink, to win a bet, or in the shower :D .

My son has always wanted a tattoo, and rather than him pay for some dodgy cheap backstreet tat, I paid out for a piece of artwork after sitting down with him and discussing, at length, pros, cons, designs etc. A few ground rules later, and he had his tattoo. It has meaning to him, is an excellent piece of artwork, he loves it, his mum is not keen (he'll always be her little boy), it wont affect employment. And he hasn't changed into a social misfit overnight...

Look it's important to make a distinction here. It is perfectly possible to loathe tattoos without discriminating against those who have one!! Never judge a book by its cover springs to mind. Stop getting so touchy about it!!!

Totally agree, OG. I'm not touchy about it, people who judge harshly by such superficial criteria don't tend to be part of my social circle.

Completely agree. Each to their own. We are all different and nobody is right or wrong (except for the wife, who is always right).

Thought I'd drag this thread back up to show off my little tat:

Can you guess what it is?

Nope! It was my very first car that lead to many more of them, which then turned into a love of the BMW variety as well... ;)
