But going on a persons for sale thread and rubbishing the car isn't good for anyone.
That's why many forums lock "sale" threads immedietly and any interesting parties contact via PM,or any comments on price/condition etc etc etc are kept off thread..
What's the actual point of killing a sale thread of a nice car, regardless of price of badge?
The car is what it is,it will sell or it won't..

It can be a tiring and lengthy process trying to sell a car and people rubbishing an advert's price is not going to help. Often people will ask for advice as to prices etc and that is different.
However, commenting on an advert to advise as to inaccuracy within the advert is fine imo, warning potentially less knowledgable buyers that the ca may not be as seems.

Agreed Steven. But when someone signs onto the forum just for selling their vehicle then I think they're fair game.
Just my opinion.

I understand and it is frustrating when people enter the community merely to exploit the resources (i.e. marketplace), but I still don't think that's justification to attack their price. Quite simply it a car is overpriced it won't sell...
It could be that the seller has recently lost a job or found themselves in financial difficulty so needs to sell quickly. Effectively killing their advert is not required, helpful or in the spirit of this community. If anybody feels that they need to lend a word of advice (re: price), then there is always the PM option.

But this was a car that was originally advertised as an "Alpina" with a price tag that was closer to that of a genuine "Alpina" than that of a 3.0 that it actually is.
So it wasn't only overpriced but misrepresented.
I think that to use your words "killing their advert" was justified in this instance before some less knowlegable forum member or other spent their hard earned cash on this one.
I bought my car from a forum member from the classifieds here. If it was known to be a wrong 'un or had some dodgy history I would of hoped someone would of pointed it out at the time.
I do agree with you though Steven where people just comment on peoples pricing.
Cheers.![]()
