Swapping standard with M seats...will the rails fit?

Hey guys

I just bought a pair of manual heated M seats for 200 EUR !!! They will need to be re-trimmed but it's still a great deal...

Only problem if one of the M seats is missing its rail (the one that gets screwed onto the chassis...the seat has the mounting points and everything). Will my standard-seat rails fit the M seats? Or should I hold off on retrimming until I find an M-seat rail?

Same rail for all Z4 e85 or e86 seats. You may run into some differences if your electrical? And you're going to manual? Part numbers on realOEM match up tho, so you should be able to swap your existing one over to the new seat without too much trouble

Thanks a lot!!! Got worried it won't fit...

I'm not downgrading to manual...my current seats are also manual. So i will have the same functions (manual and heated) only on M seats

Went to the shop to see what kind of trims they have available...but they only have 2 types of black leather, and both are rather harsh.

I was hoping to get a softer leather (like nappa...I think BMW sells it under this name?)

No such luck...should I try and find some leather online? Is there a good supplyer somewhere?

I'd go to another leather upholster? Maybe they'll have more options? If you're paying to have them done, might as well be done right.
Alternatively yes, see if you can source the leather yourself and have the shop trim and fit? No idea about suppliers etc.

Definitely stick to your guns for nappa. It’s far nicer and suits the car.
