Managed to get hold of a clip to sort out the sunglasses holder which is not working - any tips on fitting or is it just a case of pulling the old one out and shoving this in?

Bit of an exhumation of an old post, but having just got round to trying to replace my clip, how on earth do you get the old one out of the case? I've removed the case successfully from the headlining, but can't figure out how to release the clip? Can anybody who has managed it provide any guidance? I'm not bothered about putting sunglasses in there, just don't want it popping open over every decent bump...

The case can be left in situ, (sorry) a pair of snipe nose pliers can pull the clip out and simply slide the new clip in.

Typical... it had to come out anyway as it was a bit loose - looks like it may have been out before as two of the clips that hold it in are broken, so it needs a bit of packing to hold it snug. Thanks for the tip - now I know, I'll give it a good tug :)

I pushed the broken clip out from the back with a screwdriver (once I'd removed the holder from the roof).
Just make sure you put the new clip in the right way.

Thanks - all sorted. The old clip came out with a bit of a pull with pliers and although still working wasn't quite engaging with the lid properly. The new one works perfectly but I don't intend to use it going forward - hopefully it'll hold shut properly now!
