Hello. New 2.5 zed owner and my first post to this forum.
First imressions on zed. Just fun car. Relatively cheap sports car with decent engine. No extra room for nothing, so cant think it as only car on household. Very, very great looking and turns heads even it has 12 years behind. Handling is good, but most of it is just feel of speed. When you drive 100kmh it feels just like 130kmh on modern car. I bet my f10 520d is just as fast on twists just without fear. But again z4 isnt race car so feel is everything. Build quality isnt like sedan bmw level (was it build by americans?). All looks, feel and lots of fun. Best in sunny day, polished, modest speed, twisty road and of course roof open. If you worship looks and feel this is your car.
And scooby. In past I had 331hp modded forester xt. Sti might be different, but engine was about mapped/lightly modded sti. Also forester chassis/drivetrain is very close to wrx. Subaru in general have maybe one of best build qualitys, far better than bmw. Engine was full of anger and it pulled hard. 1st and 2nd gear were just violent. Like going to 100kmh wasnt accelerating, it was just like selecting 100kmh. Havent driven 3.0zed but cant think it be anything like that. Subaru is planned by engineer not designer. Every switch feels like it is going to last forever an built like in army trucks in good and bad. Interiors are awfull 90"S desing, so are exteriors, terrible noise inside and gas mileage is just awful. Sti is race car based on sedan and then retamed back to road. So scooby is all engine, reliability, and 4wd. Without power not much left to buy. But if you worship power....
Both have much more character than most of brands. Fond memories on scooby and really in love to z4, just different. You can buy scooby to your only car but z4 will make neighbours jealous.
