So I bought my e89 almost 2 weeks ago. Took it to bmw dealer near me today for a new battery to be supplied and fitted… £277.80. Ok I think, expensive but I have peace of mind it’s a bmw one.
Arrive and the take my chariot…
Half hour later… 2 tyres are borderline thread and one has a deep cut to thread, “needs urgent replacement”. Fine replace the 2 tyres then.
Add on another £500!
Then the whammy comes…
The 2 back wheels have had several weld repairs. One has a 3x weld repair and the other has 2x weld repair. “We suggest you replace the wheels as they would be significant weakened due to the repairs. It would pass MOT but we advise to change them for new”.
OMFG sirens go off in head at this stage…
“Tell you what”, he says, “we’ll give you free fitting and take 10% off for you”. Ok, I ask how much, £1100 and change.
I bought myself a £110 watch too and therefore left with a bill of £2073.09.
I’m still trying to comprehend who screwed me most. The garage who sold me the car and didn’t tell me about the condition of the wheels or BMW. I am tending to heed the advice of BMW more though.
I’ve contacted the garage I bought the car from and advised them of the bill. All within 2 weeks of getting the car. I e asked for compensation given I wasn’t told about these issues. Also the car had passed the MOT the day I got it. Shouldn’t the barely legal tyres and wheel condition have been picked up? I’ve done about 300 miles since picking it up.
Erk. Feel a bit deflated and wonder if anyone has advice please.
Thanks in advance.
