Do you always have that effect on the poor woman?
Get her all excited then leave her feeling deflated? :poke: :D

Here you, I was talking about FF’s inflatable Mrs :poke:

Not had that issue yet but according to FF she’s an actress I hire so I don’t have to go to forum events on my own

Awesome plan!
All the benefits and no maintenance costs!

Thinking about it the one thing I dislike about the Z4 unlike all other BMWs I have had in the past you cannot unlock the boot with the key fob whilst the doors are locked. The button to unlock the boot is there but it won't do it unless you unlock the doors first, never had this on any other BMW. Also another plus for cooled ventilated seats, after having experienced them on my mates 911 I think they would be godsend in the hot summers that we have here.

Nor indeed can you open the boot with the key in the ignition (unless I'm missing something). Tedious when going through customs checks.

Well this thread is in the E89 section, but you can open the boot with the key in the ignition on an E86! :)

But not on my E90 - must be a BMW generational thing.

A new one for discussion: the lack of rearward travel for the seat.
I'm just under 6' and have the seat back as far as it will go.
I could do with an extra 2-3" :tumbleweed:

Ultimately one of the main reasons I sold my 35iS. I’m 6’2 and I could not get exactly the right seating position unless the back of my seat was touching the bulkhead and it squeaked. Drove me bananas :headbang:

The really strange thing is in my previous 23i with MSport seats it never did this and the seating position was perfect. When I test drove the 35 it did it but I just thought when I had time to play around with all the settings I’d resolve it, it never, it felt like it needed another inch or two rearward travel. The only difference in the cars was the 35 had a top of the range stereo and I didn’t know if there was any way all the additional kit moved the bulkhead forward slightly.

First thing I noticed when I got into the G29 how much more space and rearward travel there was. Big factor in the decision to buy one

The way e85 owners look at you with such envy :fuelfire:

Personally I think the e85 is the best looking generation of the Z4. Next would be the e89. Not a fan at all of the G29

Well that is debatable and pretty subjective, I've never really liked the styling of the E85 hence why I have the E89. To me the E89 looks way better and looks more substantial a car. The interior of the E89 knocks the E85 for six.

[ref]Silverstar[/ref], I think Sars summed this up perfectly with an earlier post.

The thing I hate about zeds in the rivalry between the generations, having owned all three I can honestly say that I’ve loved them all

I of course disagree with both you and [ref]tomjonesBT33[/ref], and say I love my G29 the best out of the 3 I’ve had :fuelfire:

I think I would have agreed with you if you had got the one with the AC Schnitzner pack. :poke:

i thought this too but turns out you can, by using the lock button next to the hazard lights, it appears someone did actually read the user manual at some point and let the rest of us on the forum know at one time :D

And thats where the E89 excels, you can run around as coupe and if you get board with a press of a button you're suddenly a roadster

and that's it Andy, I detest the comments that states one is better than the other, because there's no metric that supports how you feel about the car you drive or have driven, it's a an just an opinion which doesn't make it a fact that you can berate or ridicule another poster. I love my G29 too, do I prefer it to the others, yes in many ways, but not all. I would also seem that the only positive proponents owners of the e85/6 is about their lower mass and size, like these are the beginning and end of everything :poke:

Two things in my ownership of the other editions that stand out, I used to get a lot of attention in the PY e85, good and bad, the colour elicited a reaction in many people, it was a fun car but not so comfortable. Two years after it went I purchased the e89 in DSB, I remember going on a meet and mine was the only e89 among 20 or so e85/6's, we were dawdling along in convoy on a private road to park up at some country estate in North Yorkshire and we passed three young lads on bikes and they were watching the cars pass, when mine did, they pointed and said oh wow as if it were some rare Ferrari :D

In my view, the e85 was more fun, the e89 is more attractive and the g29 is the more pleasurable to drive, is quicker and more comfortable than the other two.

To be honest, in many ways I preferred my MR2 Roadsters to any of my Z4's (E85 or E89). Unfortunately, they are let down by a terrible engine and aesthetics (inside and out) that are so bad SWMBO forbids me from owning one. They also make an E85 feel and sound refined, and the E89 with the roof down seem like it has an estate sized boot.

It depends what you want from a car, doesn't it? My list of wants and budget led me to one option - the Z4 E89. Whichever convertible you choose, just smile and enjoy it. If you choose a coupe instead, just accept that you hate life and will never enjoy anything :poke:
