Strange Scratches!! Help Needed!!

So having had my whole bumper resprayed last week, I now have some rather strange vertical scratches just below the front BMW badge! Great!! :headbang:

They certainly weren't there after the bumper had been resprayed and I would have noticed hitting something, so I can only assume someone else has kindly done this. Although I have no idea how, since the abrasions are vertical....?? Photos below:

Anyways, clearly need to get this sorted so hoping for some guidance on best approach from the experts. Could I get rid of these with a bit of TLC or do I need to get a professional to look at this? Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Tom

If you can get your fingernail into the paint it will be through to the base coat and best to get a professional to look at it.
The rule of thumb I used is the scratches nearly disappear when they are wet they will normally polish out.
Hope it's a simple fix.

if you can catch them with your nail, it usually means it need painted again...

you may be able to save it with wet sanding mind you..

it looks too far gone for just a polish to me I'm afraid...

Thanks for the advice folks. There are a few that I can feel when I run my nail over them, but think a lot of them are quite light. Really don't want to have to pay to get the bumper done again. Can anyone recommend a good service that might touch up just this area? Or is that unlikely to look good?

Am in St.Albans.

Have seen good and bad reports about Chips Away.

Just double checked and can't really get my nail into any of them. Anyone in my local area (Hertfordshire) who has a passion for paint work? Can pay! :-)

Someone has pulled something flat up the front of your car - bet it was a works van or flatbed with a high rear bumper. I got very similar - but much lighter - marks when I drove into my garage door last year. Should polish out, may need a machine polisher though. I got all mine out by hand.

Sounds about right! I'm not sure what would be more annoying, this or driving into a garage door! :-)

Kinda hoping there is someone on here who could help me try and polish them out as I'm a bit of a rookie!

It wasn't me, hopefully they will polish out

If you're interested in driving around to Tilbury, essex one evening/weekend to where a friend and I have a unit, we have a fully stocked detailing kit and would have a go at taking them out. If they come out feel free to leave a little cash for products/time, if not, then no worries? From what you've said regarding the depth of them, I'd say you're in for a fair chance that they'll come out.

Hope that helps.

Ah that sounds amazing- thanks for the offer RJS! I'm about an hour away from you and would certainly make the trip. Maybe one evening next week? Can sort you out some money. :-)

No problem at all, I'll see what evenings we're planning on being down there and drop you a PM? Alternatively, I'm sure I'll be there next Saturday? If the weather's nice it's a good blast around there anyway (any excuse for a drive)

Just a quick note of thanks to RJS and his petrol-head crew! Popped over to his yesterday to see if we could get these scratches out and am pleased to say that they did a great job and the scratches are now gone! Great work - thanks guys! :D

Managed to grab a quick pic when I got home, poor quality iPhone photo i'm afraid:

Great work! Wouldn't know it had happened.

RJS - you'll go a long way with those skills and that approach to people!
