Pleased to report (finally) some GOOD news.
The car's back home, with new keys and new tyres all fitted.
Just took it for a valet to get all the fingerprinting crud and scum remnants off it.
Mechanically, it's as fit as a fiddle. There's some body work damage that's getting sorted under insurance at BMW's bodyshop, so it's back in for some cosmetic work (including fitting and spraying the //M rear and facelift front bumpers - for free!) at the end of the month, but at least then I'll get a courtesy car for the week.
quite literally overjoyed - MAY have gone for an hour's hoon in it as soon as I picked it up...
