Still having headlight troubles :(

I've spent nearly 3 weeks searching for answers to why my drivers headlight (xenon) doesn't rise when the car is started (passenger side levels fine). I have to admit that I have been fairly lazy though. The dealers are saying they don't supply individual parts and so want to supply me with a new headlight (at £1025!!!). There's 3 indy's that I have contacted but none of them seem to be able to fit the car in for any work for another couple of weeks so I'm on my own.

I was checking the fuses earlier & so was in the handbook & noticed a unit on the drawing, a quick Google search leads me to think it is the headlight vertical aim control (part number 67168352206). Does anyone know if this is a unit that can easily be changed? I've found a write up for the E90 and E70 but both these headlights are considerably different to the E85s.

Any help will be much appreciated as I could do with having the car sorted & MOT'd by next week.

Thanks in advance, sorry I've asked questions about the headlights 3 times now!

Replaced aim arm in my halogen lights but obviously they're different. I would suggest you get the light out on the weekend and have a look in there. If you can get the aim arm out then all you need to do is buy that part. Speak to Sopers and see if they can source it.

Hi R3YN P

I had excatly the same problem as You. I took my car to BMW official Workshop in Warsaw during my holidays - they have replaced this part in less than an hour. Of course without replacing the whole headlight.

But, what's important - at the beginng I've brought my own part to them. Non-original TYC 20-0321-MA-1. Theoretically, it should FIT, but they told me, that connector is different and they have to use their own part (which wasn't expensive at all).

Is it difficult to get it out & change it? I've seen a YouTube clip of someone changing a bulb but the aim control looks like it's part of the inner headlight & so not removable. I'm useless with this sort of stuff! Hopefully if the arm has just popped out of the ball joint I can just pop it back in & not have to replace the unit.

Sorry but I have no idea - I can only assume, that it can't be difficult, because BMW Garage made it in a very short time. They have only replaced one part (which costs about 50-100 euros) - I can't remember exactly. I've already sold my car, and all the bills are gone too :o

As I said, this part TYC 20-0321-MA-1 haven't fit. But it's replacement for 67168352206. No idea why.

I think it's going to be better, take it to BMW Garage.
