New battery fitted (70Ah instead of old one 80Ah). Still some issues.

Hi,
A while ago I had a problem which led to various things replaced, including a new battery. The new battery is a Bosch S5 A08 12V 760A, but is a 70Ah. I am fairly sure that the OEM that was replaced was 80Ah.
I have been noticing this pattern: if I leave the car unlocked and with the engine stopped (for example, when washing it), more often than not the car shows on the dash and on the screen an alert with "increased battery usage".
I have just gone to the car, plugged in my OBD scanner and got the following error code:
2EBE BSD, Message; Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS): missing.
Could this be related to an incorrect battery?
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Did you code the new battery to the car? Especially as it is a different rating the battery needs to be registered and coded.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The battery was fitted by a BMW independent garage and was coded.

Always worth checking everything is connected properly. I'm assuming it's the same (ish) as our E92 - there's a load of connections on top of the battery module itself - including the IBS plug. Might be the IBS plug that's come lose/wasn't connected properly causing the 'not found' error?

Thank you so much for your reply! It was indeed the IBS plug, which sits on top of the battery's negative terminal... somehow it was disconnected (or perhaps it had only been loosely plugged in).
I plugged it back in, cleared the error and now it seems to be fine (fingers crossed).
