Sterling Grey Roadster Log

I thought I would make a log of all the things that I do with the Z4, I know some one will find it interesting!

There are a number of niggley little jobs that need doing to get it in a basic serviceable condition that we will be happy with.

To name a few:

  • Intermittent wiper function not working - delamination of sensor
Front passenger side headlight washer leaking (now sorted)
    Wheel refurbishment
New tyres all round (currently RFT on front and non RFT on rear)
'Glue' mark on dash - something previously stuck on there, I think an air freshener or something
There are a few Mods I'd like such as:

  • M sport steering wheel - after driving my 5 the z4 standard wheel feels really thin
Sport seats - so I'm not sliding around on corners and preferably headed electric
Front suspension overhaul is probably due soon and investigation of the steering as it is slightly sticky but infrequently.

----

I got on to sorting the headlight washer jet last night after picking up the parts from the post office.

Bit scary taking the bumper off but used to taking things apart at work that are scarier so just got on with it with the help of a guide on here.

I didn't take many photos but here are the ones that I did take:

I started at 1730 so was getting dark by the time I finished!

I scooped all the crud out of the under tray and the part swap was really simple, chucked it back together and gave it a test then a wipe down as they covered the bonnet in screen wash.

Although I noticed while I was in there that the drivers side looks like it is on it's way out.

Seems they are pretty simple in function, the power of the screen wash pump forces them out, once they pass a certain point the jets open, they spray and a spring retracts them.

Here is the offending article, it would leak a whole 5 litre screen wash tank over night.

Thanks for looking, Hopefully more to come soon!

Cheers,

Stu

had the exact same problem with mine. fixed it a few times but it kept breaking, so shelled out for another one.

We haven't really done too much with the Z4 recently other than put a few miles on it and the Hardtop we bought from DesignDave.

A few night time shots:

Hopefully we will have the opportunity to take it off soon!

I think it must be a trick combination of the light and the camera both being poor as shes doesn't look new in the flesh!

Appreciate the comment though!

A little update with what we have been up to recently;

We've started wrapping parts of the trim in Brushed black metal, we didn't want to go down the carbon route so opted for a more subtle look.

We also wanted to avoid having a brushed aluminium interior like in the 5 series. Still waiting for the next batch of wrap to arrive to do the transmission trim and the passenger side dash trim.

I'll let the pictures do the talking:

In the post are a ZHP gear knob and a new adhesive pad for the rain sensor.

I could have an M Sport wheel for sale in the near future as I'm returning my car to standard. Will be in about a month I'd have thought.

Anyway, car is looking good mate. Where about in Lincs are you?

Will you be looking to shift any of the other stuff in your sig e.g. zhp, seats?

Today I received and fitted a new sensor lens for the rain/light sensor and although it works it isn't perfect so I'm not going to post pictures until I get another and do it properly!

Nice to have intermittent wipe back though!

@aquazi We wanted something a bit unique, really happy with how it turned out, I had to do the lower steering wheel spoke twice though as the first time there was a gap in the middle.

@Bradders75 you have a pm! We're between Grantham and Stamford.
