Std 2012 bluetooth and Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hmmm

Having loved the std Bluetooth functionality of my 2012 Zed using my old phone, my new Samsung Galaxy SIII won't connect and the BMW website says it is unsupported.

Anyone figured a way around this yet?

Do you have iDrive? My 2011 has it and connects perfectly with my Galaxy S3 - displays and reads texts. (I have a Blackberry Bold for work and the iDrive also displays and reads e-mails from that)

Have you tried deleting all paired devices and starting from scratch?

Hi, you need to go to your phone settings and activate Bluetooth then tick the box that makes the phone visible. Connected my S3 with no problems. Remember to enter the same pass code into the car and phone. Non idrive spec, standard Bluetooth.

I have a sept 2010 and my S3 connects fine. I cannot get texts or emails on the car display though. Is this something a software update would fix? I was offered one at service for dancing windows but needed my car back so couldn't leave it with them overnight. They then said a window reset would fix it but it hasn't. If I could get the extra functionally I may just take it back in.

There was a software update on the BMW website (in the owner's area I think) that I downloaded to a memory stick and then updated through the USB port in the armrest. Can't remember exactly what it did but only took minutes to do. Didn't have the S3 then though so can't confirm if it did the trick.

The texts appear on the iDrive screen under 'messages', and if you click left with controller it brings up some options including one with the right pointing triangle that means 'play'..Doris then reads the text out (which can be quite funny!)

Doesn't pick up e-mails from the S3 though, but it does pick them up from my bberry. Worked fine with my previous phone (Nokia lumia 800) as well.

I have similar issues with the one in my Scirocco...will download address book from S3 (and bb) but no messages at all.

Sorry if that's not a lot of help, but I'm pretty sure the update fixed it....(and it was v v easy)

Can anyone use their iphone or Galaxy wirelessly over Bluetooth to listen to music? It's worked once in a Mini....I have iDrive but can't get it to work....

Yep, mine plays over Bluetooth, shows an an external device in the source list (from memory - haven't driven it since the weekend)

I'm sure the downloaded update from BMW is what enabled all this.

Ah yes, I now remember looking at this a while ago. Unfortunately I get the following message when trying to download an update.

No software update available.

To perform the software update via USB stick, you will require the USB audio interface (included in optional equipment codes 6FL, 6NK or 6NL) as well as the Control Display and iDrive. This offer is only available for selected vehicles manufactured after March 2010. Your vehicle can be updated provided that you have the ‘Software update’ option on your ‘Settings’ menu in the Control Display.

Would a software update enable this, as I have all the required components? I think it's time to get those windows fixed.
