AnilS, this doesn't apply directly to you, and please accept my condolences.

I want to pose a question though. Why is it not OK to drive out to an open space in my own car and go for a walk when the nearest person is around 1 mile away,
BUT,
Running out to the middle of the street with every one of my neighbours (at close range, maybe less than 5 metres) and clapping the NHS is perfectly reasonable?
PLEASE, someone explain this logic.
But, before anyone jumps on the NHS comment, I of course applaud the NHS. I have no problem with that. Just in my own house.

I think the simple reason is that some are not reasonable, but instead reliant on the direction of the government and experts to tell them how to exist. Boris is just doing his usual trick of waiting for public opinion to form then jumping on the bandwagon, the experts are doing what they usually do and give out the advice they've been paid to give to make their client happy.

Would that be REAL experts doing their absolute utmost to deal with this unprecedented situation as opposed to a non expert in the field that thinks his way is the best guided by his own self belief that he knows better than anyone else and seems to have no intention of doing as asked..?

I cannot for the life of me understand why the people that know so much more than the ones on the front line aren't marching in there and telling them where they’re going wrong....I’m sure they’d get a blue light escort in there if they knew what other “Experts” don't... I’d wager they’d take anyone who could click a finger and have it all sewn up in an instant, they’re not enjoying this or doing it for fun.

[ref]john-e89[/ref], I'm with you!

I am well acquainted with the theory that if you gave enough monkeys enough typewriters they would eventually produce the works of Shakespeare, but I severely doubt we have quite enough on this forum to solve the current situation.

Yes, plenty of monkeys here.
Perhaps acquaint yourself with another monkey story, called 5 monkeys. Quite similar to what is going on.

Well, that depends on whether bananas are an essential item doesn't it?

AnilS - Thank you for sharing this and being so clear and honest about the impact on your family. I lost my father 40 years ago and the only advice I can give you is to allow the grieving process to take its own time and don't be afraid to let your emotions out - everyone is different and sometimes it comes at you unexpectedly, even years later. Don't bottle it up like I did

I'd suggest this is essential reading for those who have any lingering doubts.

Appreciate your sentiments. I was doing my best to comfort my wife, as she was trying to hold it together this afternoon, at the funeral directors.

Sorted but only 10 allowed to be present at the funeral.

Last year, we lost nephews. The kids, and I had counseling. It helped a lot.

Thanks you.

What sort of dipshit says she needs to resign or be sacked at the moment though as I heard.... All hands on deck no...? Every pair of hands is needed right now....honestly some folk are too thick for words. No one here I’m on about on the media.

Pretty sure I spotted a gathering of some sort being broken up by the Police today. Out walking the deserted local lanes alone when accross the other side of the river Lyner I noticed a load of Hi Viz Jackets moving about. Looked very much like the police breaking up a largish group of people. Can't be sure as I was a few hundred yards away. I checked the location on Google when I got home and the campsite there is about as remote as you can get around here, so they probably though no one would catch them. Morons

Good to see the police breaking it up though.

While debates on what is right/wrong are interesting, the fact that they happen at all is more important than agreeing the “correct” behaviour.

We’re all a dot in a big statistical model. A model that didn’t take into account MAMILs and morons would be a more permissive but less effective one (in our culture, at least).

Equally, there are going to be people sitting on a pile of loo roll in the dark with a foil hat on.

Yes but I'm not posting any selfies of that.

My company has set up a 'Working From Home' email group for the few of us not furloughed.
I have taken it upon myself to be I/C Morale.

This has been passed along.
