Does anyone know if you can still be fined if you are displaying an 'out of date' VED disc? I guess the police don't rely on checking these since they have the ANPRC system. I did see a report a few months back which said there were plans to phase out the issuing of VED discs.
ETA "After the grace period of 5 days" you can still get 'done' for displaying an out of date VED disc, and there's no exemption if your's is at home/in the post/etc.

A BiB probably wouldn't do you (if you had simply forgotten to display your new disc), but one of the parking Nazis might

Silver facelift roadster and silver coupe heading into Livingston on the A71 this morning. I'm half-way between the two with my hard-top on .

Black E85 3.0si Coupe, 56 plate, parked in St. Peter's Terrace Stamford at 2.30pm this afternoon. However, it had a VED licence that had expired at the end of January.

Maybe they were hoping it would be taken to the crushers... and made into a superior roadster for free :fuelfire:

Wrong I'm afraid..........you do get 5 days grace with not displaying a current disc, providing it was ordered online prior to the previous one expiring.

From here - https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/home/commonquestions#question9

When you apply for a tax disc online or by using DVLA's phone service you are able to legally continue to drive your vehicle for up to 5 days after the tax disc has expired while you wait for the new tax disc to arrive. This will only apply when you have applied for a new tax disc before the current one expires. You should continue to display the expired disc on your vehicle, until the new one arrives.

Correct, and I've edited my post accordingly.

DLVA website doesn't say whether you're still legally allowed to drive your car if you've not received it after the 5 day grace period.

However, a parking Nazi would not know that you'd applied/paid for your VED so it would be up to you to appeal the fine/penalty/charge (although if it's a private parking one then just ignore it).

Grey Coup 3.0si VU56 I think, on Westbury Road, Bristol...

I slipped out just in front of you at the roundabout  and you were right behind me for a bit. Your car looked great, on MV2's and looked lowered too! I did a quick hazard light flash when you turned off right, was hoping for a little dual carriageway action :) and a wave but not this time...

First Coup I've seen in Bristol!

15:50 - Sandford Park, Dark (space?) Grey Facelift roadster (de-badged) parked in the free roadside bays/spaces.

16:00 - Black Roadster heading out of Cheltenham on Cirencester rd.

I always thought Infernos was the buffet and "free entry to a girl" was pretty much guaranteed if you're prepared to lower your standards enough
