Sports Mode ON at startup Mod (2024 update)

Whoop! I've barely driven my MR yet but I imagine the time will come where I'll disable DSC on that whenever I take it out as well. Same button in the M as in the 3.0

Good to know! Fingers crossed it'll all be the same. RealOEM can sometimes be hard to tell - for example, there can be 2 part numbers, say 1 is 2002+ , which was superseded in say 2004 with a newer part number, but it will say "nonexchangeable retrospectively" -- and yet the connections and inner workings are the same.

Somewhat hit and miss! I mean, it's correct about the heater controls. Eg Facelift version can not be straight swapped into a prefacelift. You have to swap over the internals if you want the facelift look (Eg, the silver bits on them) in a prefacelift.

Anyways, will pull the panel apart once I've received it from 'Big Andra'

Hello! Another random project I've now completed...
c) Remember state -> This mode remembers the last state of the button. If sports mode was on when you switch off the car, it will automatically turn it back on next time you turn on ignition/start the car. If sports mode was off when turning off the car, it will remain off next time you start the car.

I'd buy this, so add me to the list, and specifically, and quite unpopularly it seems, I prefer option C. :D

Good work, I'd bet there's a market for an E89 version too.

It's a WIP - although for E89 there's no customisation so to speak. Long story short, it's not worth the time, investment and R&D for something that most won't want to pay more than £50 for.... but in the E89 it either requires a "simplistic version" based on my E85 one, or a more complex one that would need access to can bus and/or k-bus for feedback so it can check if sport mode is on or not... and that, increases component costs and everything. Would be closer to £100 for a proper E89 version that functions same as my E85 one, and I really don't think anyone would pay it. Even if a couple would - it's still just not worth it... I'd need say 10 orders min to make it worthwhile doing one 'properly'

The simplistic E89 version simply TRY and turn on sport mode - but there's no way to know if sport mode is on via the sport button wiring. It's all done by ecus/obc (On Board Computer) etc (What I mean by that, is, the indicator that shows you you're in sport mode is on the dash, meaning there's no visual representation on the buttons themselves like there is on the E85... so on E85, I'm able to measure voltage to the LED indicator of the button in order to confirm sport mode did turn on/off - but that's not possible on E89 as there's no LED turning on, on the button, so would need more work)

Nice little gadjet, thats what I call making it simpler for everyone else.
I personally havn't used the button much, only because I tend to jump in and set off forgetting about the button
This would be ideal for me,as I could leave it on all the time

Thanks :D I had a fair few people asking me to look into it after seeing me do a few other bits (DIY Headlights, Custom 3rd Brake Light, iDrive BLE HID (Not directly related to Z4s) amongst other projects)

Get in touch if you'd like to order one

You are welcome

Lets see how the next few weeks go with the virus

Now told i'm working from home, which means I can get round to doing some of them jobs on the Zed,in between phone calls and emails

I work from home 90% of the time normally, it's amazing how many jobs "miraculously" get done on my cars in the summer months; you can do an hour or two before work, an hour at lunch, and then a few hours in the evening. :D
