LOL - a Stag couldn't be anything else but a blokes car really...."I'm going out RUTTING in my STAAAG" doesn't really sit well with a girlie hairdesser does it....

you need to be a man to push your stag, and that's what you will be doing most of the time. One of the worst v8s ever made...

The only reason the Stag had engine problems was because its engine was prone to overheating. But with todays technology you can make a stag really quite reliable. There ok as long as you upgrade the radiator, there are new unit that coll the engine much more efficiently. As long as the engine hasnt overheated too much and the cylinder heads haven't caused warping it should be ok . its a common misconception that the stag is a poor car. But like all older cars certain years are better than others. Much like the MGs.

Its like the 996 porsche that everyone thinks the engine will have catastrophic failure because 2-3% of cars had the RMS seal leak. As long as its been looked after they will be fine!

1. yes, he's buried in the woods now
2. of course, here my Lexus
:P
The people you describe are not the type who would Pass comment on my car, Its usually your overweight corsa / Fiesta driver who has watched too much top gear, and probably smoked too much Top gear.
Thats true, they were pretty opposite ends of the spectrum. A few of my mates have made comments as well that dont drive Fiestas but they shutup when all they can see out of their sh1tty scirrocco is the arse end of my Z!!!

On this years Islay meet on the return Journey we pulled into Inverary where there was alot of bikers gathered, One of them was heard saying "oh, it must be the gays day out" now this coming from someone who likes to dress in tight leather and have something big and vibrating tucked tighly between his legs just led me to believe that most peoples opinions of what I drive is not relevant whatsoever, I do not judge anyone by what they drive, there are more subsatantial things in life to judge people on. I have had and still do get "hairdresser" Gay comments, they used to bother me, but I moved on, Must of these assholes don't smile when they are driving there P.O.S. but a couple of comments I saw posted on here normally wipes the smirk from their faces.

1. "HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SMACKED IN THE MOUTH BY A HAIRDRESSER"

2. "PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHOW ME WHERE YOUR PIECE OF POORLY MANUFACTURED s**t IS PARKED"

LOL

One of the reasons I bought the Z is because it isn't 'girly'. Yes I am a girl, but I'm not a fan of 'girly' cars. I'm not a 'typical' woman at all.
The majority of Z4's I see are driven by men. And just look at how many women are on this forum. I know going off the forum isn't accurate, and a lot of women aren't into forums etc. But there sure are a lot of male Z'ers and I can probably count the women on here on one hand.
The people who generally say they are birds cars, are 99% of the time driving a 1.2 litre boring, crappy hatchback and know nothing about cars. How on earth can this engine be girly?! A lot of women I know wouldn't know what to do with a 3 litre straight six

This is one of the most friendly, enthusiastic forums I've ever been a member of. I love the fact that most people just love their cars, love the performance, love sharing their experiences and don't get hung up on this sort of nonsense (apart from the usual boring roadster/coupe rubbish, after which you have to insert pokey stick smiley).

Cars are fun. I don't care if you drive a pink drop-top 800cc thingy with fluffy dice and are in fact a gay hairdresser. I bet if you love cars we could have a great chat. I've always aspired to faster cars but I've had some of the best fun in tiny virtually worthless ones that were described as "womens cars". You learn a lot about momentum, balance, looking way ahead and not wasting energy in those sort of motors.

I also think there's a great argument for girls cars. If, that is you mean cars that will work day in, day out, with no pottering and tinkering required from me. Sounds like a great idea. Some of my "girls cars" required pliers to pull the choke out and a bag of split pins to re-attatch the gearstick while on the move. Girly? Female, fellow engineers may say yes.

Having said that, some of my best friends are women and I'm pretty certain they have categories of "Boy Cars" which aren't entirely complimentary either.

OK read some of the previous stufff here my take on the issue ,,,,,,,,,Sex and gender are very different , sex is biological . gender is socialy constructed , eg "ragtops" being put in the category of a hairdressers car.I see post such as this to be tottaly ridiculous, however when so many peeps 'bite' have the guys got an issue with gender ?

Having just joined the zed world I have thought about this long and hard on hr run up to purchase. We have in the past had an MX5 and that was 100% a female car. Even the 1.8 'sport' jap engine felt as if it had just been removed from a haidryer! Solution there was to by a bike :) Z4 is different, very different. It looks male, our 6pot sounds fantastic, and although not the fastest car I've driven it is sill bloody quick...I wanted a coupe, wife wanted roadster, she won in the end with a convincing argument about asking compromises with two seats and at least getting the benefit of a soft top! Which I think as sense (ignoring the blazing performance of the coupe and it's guaranteed future classic status). Comment on Boxter is true- probably the best all rounder and everyday Porsche they have made but it's not a 911. Bottom line with the others -if it was designed with a roof golf, megane, many Audis etc it looks crap with a roof (Peugot take note).

Birds or blokes? Reckon the underlying reason why anyone male or female would want to buy a flash car is to attract the opposite sex ( or good looking same sex if you're gay ). Its a statement saying " look at me - I'm well off , successful , exciting and a bit of a rebel ".

We humanoids are perverse in that all the above applies but when we're out posing in our phallic symbols ( or female equivalents ) if we are not really out and out show offs we get embarassed at being seen to be deliberately posing .

Notwithstanding all this - great cars aren't they !!

I think it's quite straightforward really Sports Cars are for either sex, it's true more males tend to want sports cars but lots of girls also like them. They just make us feel excited about looking at them and driving them as they are compromised in the practicality department to improve the looks and sometimes for performance.

We get them because they are not simply a tool to do a job they are there to have fun in. So I say they are just for people that like to have fun and also petrolheads.

So to sum up I think the sex thing is irrelivant unless you are someone that is fixed on stereotypes.
