speeding tickets and the z.......

Um would dating a cop of the city I got the ticket in count?

Oh, but that's highway patrol and the cop is city....guess that wouldn't help. But I may try to bring it up to the cop anyways. Maybe he knows the highway patrol guy. The cop kinda owes me since our 2nd date was on a shovel head Harley and it stopped in the hills and stranded us.

Thanks for the advise AlanL. I was actually pondering getting a radar detector...but you've disuaded me from that.

Enfield are you suggesting I take the class and get zero points? Not sure what hire means.

Socal mine is 3 in July as well, wonder if they were sisters on the line?

Rosie

Not suggesting classes dear lady. I suggest going to court. I hire "traffic court specialists" to fight the case for me. The going rate in Ontario is $400. I think it is worth it.

Yeah... AlanL's hit the nail on the head. Gotta love on-ramps! :driving:

And Rosie, I dunno about enfield's advice... did you know he supposedly tried to "own" a cop in court because of a measly 5kph over-limit speeding ticket?

OK, enfield, time for your story. popcorn.gif

Rosie - I always though that if I had a radar detector in my car I would be able to relax more behind the wheel and found the opposite to be true. At least in my neck of the woods, the local Sheriffs department still has some X-band systems around (like the CHP) so you have to leave the V1 at it's most sensitive setting. This means it sends out alarms for just about every department store door system on the planet and the alarms are going off almost constantly as you drive around. I got to a point where I had a knee jerk reaction of yanking my foot off the gas every time I heard a beep whether I was going the speed limit or not (sometimes even under) just because the alarm said I needed to be careful.

Driving with that in my car was nerve wracking to say the least. When I sold my last Audi and got a Honda S2000, I looked at the lack of space in that small car and never bothered to put it in. I was amazed at how much nicer it was to drive without the hair trigger on my dashboard and have never looked back.

Hey, hey, hey.... I took that guy to court for the 5kph. I won too. Just like I did for another proper speeding violation (71kph in a 50kph) as well as for a rolling stop. The 5kph was not worth any points but it was a matter of principle!! So - that is 6 points I do not have on my license - between the 71 and the STOP sign. The 71kph was not in the ///M. It was not in a mini-van either  . It was in my Infiniti.

OK... so 3 traffic violations X $400/case = $1200. Damn... I could get me some nice toys with that wad of cash!

Haha. Love toying with ya, mate. :poke:

Ah - but you seem to forget 3 years of jacked up insurance!! I pay insurance on 2 high preformance cars  - Even the 5kph goes on the record by the way and I would loose more than 1200 on insurance over 3 years....

Believe it or not the bl**dy insurance compant considers the FX45 to be high preformance with 315 horses and 330 torques

Dang... how much more performance are you looking for before you consider a vehicle high performance? I think the FX45 is a very high performing vehicle! **CLICKY** Actually, I thought the premiums on the FX was based on it being a luxury branded vehicle. :)

No, wait a minute... the premiums are so high because of other FX drivers who like to speed (usually 71kph in 50kph zones).

(aside: I wish our ///Ms had 330 lb-ft of torque)

Bluesie you got one? What state was that in? AND how the heck did he let you get out and take a photo of it.....man you are a sweet talker.

Hi Rosie,

It was on Highway 26 in Oregon, the first official day of my cross country trip. He got me for 78 in a 55 zone, but I was lucky I'd slowed down for a turn, and he came around the bend from the other direction. I was already braking when I got in line with his radar, so I was lucky that's all he got me for.

Truth is, that ticket was a huge favor to me, as I was being seriously over-enthusiastic in my driving, launching off on my big adventure. It got me to slow down and be more aware, and only open up on special occasions.

Since then, I've usually kept it about 12 miles over the limit. Since then, I've been followed twice, had a cop at a speed trap in Florida beep his siren at me, and had one hit his blue lights in warning going the other way, but he didn't turn around. They were signalling me, but I wasn't worth pulling over.

The funniest one though was on a freeway in Illinois. I was passing a couple cars on the right side, going about 80 or so, when I noticed a "Sherriff" logo on the second car. I immediately braked to match his speed, aborting the inside pass. We tooled along like that for a few minutes, and I could sense the cop's attention as he slowed down to speed limit, and I followed suit. After a couple minutes of their scrutiny, with me doing my best to "fly casual" the passenger in the back seat (prisoner?) turned around and gave me a thumbs up and a big grin out the back window. I knew they'd been talking about me and I'd gotten away with it. :)

Got my car in Feb 2003, got my FIRST speeding ticket in April 2003. hey, what can I say, this is my first sports car. Ok, so if he was on the desert floor about 1/2 hour before tht, he could have clocked me at...max speed for my 2.5. clock said 151, but we know that to be untrue. :driving:
2nd speedign ticket, about 1 1/2 years later, he clocked 3 of us at 95, got the ticket down to 75++. First guy paid, 2nd guy went to traffic school. Me, i fought it and won basically stating that I was 3rd in line and that they pulled in front of me and then slowed down and about that time the cop came over the hill. Got away with that one.

No tickets whatsoever for me so far, but it has been close several times, I've just been lucky.

The scariest was in France cruising along when a car in the opposite direction flashing vigorously with his headlights made me slow down, just a couple of second more we were over the top of the hill smack in the face of a laser cop unit pointing right at us. :o

That was a cold shower!

Flashing headlight as a warning is now illegal in Pennsylvania and the State Police have actually set-up stings to target and fine drivers that flash their headlights as a warning. The violation is improper use of headlights.... :headbang:

Nice to see you back. If I ever come to Georgia - you will be one of the first people to know.

I am off to Germany for 2 weeks. Plan to drive well over 200kph on the unregulated autobahn!!!!!! Getting an Audi A6 and have requested the 4.2 litre version.
