OK so I have taken the plunge and I am changing all 4 RFT tyres to Falkens although imj going for the ZE9112's.

Now I need to look at a space saver so what type and model do I get?
Is the E46 in a 17 suitable?

Yes, I think so.... Are you planning to cart it around in the boot, or keep it at home...?

For long distance driving a space saver is much better, what car do you have? On the 3.0si you will need 17's to clear the front calipers (and the space saver must always go on the front axle)

Otherwise a 16" will do even.

I have a 3.0 Roadster 2003 with 18 inch 108's. With this in mind can I still get away with a 16 or would a 17 be better. I intend to carry it around with me to be honest, plus if I use gunk most tyre repairers say they cant because of the gunks composition. Also with the space saver does it have to be the E46 model only for the stud configuration?

I am also interested in the front tyre only observation :? :?

The reason for this? asks this chronically curious reader.

I was told that the skinny space savers cant be used on the driven wheels.

Not sure what it would mean if you had a rear puncture, especially with a staggered fitment.. as taking the rear and putting it the front is a faff and then you would have a fat wide wheel at the front!

I had a space saver on my 3 series, which went on the back? It was a 318 so wasnt too powerful

Cant imagine 200+ BHP on a space saver being safe

I dont think thats right otherwise why have a space saver at all? Also what happens if you have a 4x4 car not jeep? If I had a spacesaver on the rear I can asure you I would not be driving fast either way, I might own a Z4 but I aint an idiot. Oxymoron if there ever was one

When i was looking to buy on ebay the 17in was going for well over £100 ,this for a 6yr plus old tyre .
