Space Saver Wheel - Correct Size

Looking for some help with confirmation on the correct Space Saver Wheel and tyre size to fit my 2.5si E85.

Car is currently sitting on Z4M wheels with tyre sizes - Front 225 x 40 x18 and Rear 245 x 40 x 18. As tyres are not run flats becoming less confident when going on long journeys. I have seen a 3 Series Space Saver for sale locally that has a tyre size 125 x 80 x 17 and wondered if anyone can confirm if this will fit? and if not what is the correct one.

Thanks

That should fit fine.

On non-M (and possibly Alpina) E85/86s with standard brakes it's only the facelift 3.0Sis that need a 17" space-saver to clear the front brake calipers. A 16" space-saver should fit all the others and 16" ones are more common, so therefore cheaper!

Iain.

Cheers for quick reply - space saver seems reasonably priced at £50, the peace of mind will be well worth the cost

Thanks, Iain C

I found a local space saver in 17 inch size for £30 luckily and also bought a scissor jack and a brace for about £20 or so ( Silverline) and a bag to put it in for a tenner. I have the wheel upside down in the back and the tool bag and wheel changing stuff all fits inside and zipped in the bag. The only thing needed is to find a way to strap the wheel to stop it banging over hump back bridges etc . So need to find a place to locate some straps and then clip in place.

I got a 3 Series jack from Quarry Motors (BMW breaker) for £19.99 - but forgot to buy the winding handle.

And because it's from a BMW it fits the jacking points just right, but don't forget you'll need some sort of wheelbrace!

Don't cram the boot full either because if you ever need the space-saver you'll have to fit a full size wheel in the boot, unless you leave it behind.
