Southern UK meet (Hampshire) - Sun 5/4/09

We had a great morning and lunch, thanks to Clare and it was great to meet some new faces. Great pub find - good value and quality. I led the lost group group on some "interesting" single lanes, a U Turn, G1 maps in one hand, the misses programming in bmw sat nav as we zig zagged down some bumpy tight roads.

Clare, the end of the quote is "I'll drive as fast as I feel safe to do so!!!" :P I had Roaders's M3 pushing me so I had no idea what the pace was like middle and back.

I'm glad everyone had fun on the Dawn raid - or at least that's what people said to my face. I run most of that route every month when it's dry. The loop south of South Harting is fantastic bit of road. Probably the best bit of road in Surrey that I've found.

Nice to have some local zedders. I'll be popping up with another run in a couple of months.

I felt particularly under pressure as I had sixspeed behind me as I have certainly never driven my car that quickly before!

LOL! Thought you did very well then. I think my car can look a bit intimidating coming towards you, but hope you didn't feel under too much pressure! I was having too much fun blasting back and forth making lots of noise, but sorry if I made it look like I was trying to push you on....! :(

Do we have to wait a couple of months for the next one? :P :driving:

No, its cool, no pressure really - I had tons of fun so it's all good! I just didn't want to hold you up on those tiny roads where you wouldn't be able to pass me as I knew you'd be wanting to drive as fast as possible, but I coped! And I didn't drive into any trees or anything, although I nearly got air over one of the bridges!

Oh and my husband had a great time too even as a passenger. He can't wait to get his elise back now so he can crash the next one

Ahh that's good then! I didn't feel held up - really don't think there was much more pace to be had on most of those roads tbh!! :D

I hope you don't mean the car! ;)

Also, sixspeed was you number plate on a different car previously? It seems familiar!

It was originally on my old Tuscan S. Then I put it on my old VX220 Turbo.. and now the Zed.... Most people remember it from the TVR though for some reason! :P

I liked the way you were warming your tyres up on the second run weaving all over the road :)

LOL - i was getting bored when we stuck behind that traffic. Just so turned out that we "broke free" about 30 seconds later at the next junction! hehe

Wondermike, that picture must have appeared on just about every car forum I know... LOL

I'd like to echo all the positive comments here so far...
Great choice of route, Driving pace, Road etiquette, Organisation, Lunch venue, Weather :).... All A+ Thanks Andy and Clare.. Superb job!

I have to be honest and say I was little apprehensive as there is the potential to be joining a cliquey group, but was relieved to have such a warm welcome.

Flimper/ClareS.. Didn't realise you were run virgins too... Sixspeed, thanks for the awesome sound track :happyclap: I swear my car was faster when I was following you!

Next time I'll stick around for lunch. Unfortunately my morning pass was about to expire!

Dammit, how does everyone else's car still look spotless and mine is filthy!!! It was fine when I left home. Must be Linzi's fault for using the windscreen wash when she drove to the meet point!

Believe the track is Spa on the 2nd track sticker.

That looks like a result of using the windscreen wash whilst the headlights were on... damn headlight washers!

Wow, my car looks great in this shot! Some lovely pics there... Have to say I was a little worried about what everyone would be like as well. I was afraid you would all be masive car geeks and conversation would be limited to which oil you use and the like. Fortunately not!

:D I've been on a couple of meets like that and haven't gone back! Generally everyone I meet from the forums have been a really good laugh, I've mode some really good friends on the forum.

I didn't get a chance to talk to that many of yesterday, will have to try harder next time!

When is next time Clare?

I have a great lunch location in surrey that I go to sometimes. I'll maybe organize a trip there one weekend.

I have a few old routes I ran a few years back now - maybe I'll see if I can dig them out. Had one that ran to the Mulberry Inn Pub in Chiddingfold which is a great place for lunch (and very petrolhead friendly!) :)

The 'headlight' washers can be unplugged from the water tank, mine has been done, there are 2 pumps 1 for screen and 1 for headlights, just unplug it :D

I started photoshopping the black runs off at about 1am but gave up! I like the fact that it looks like it's been driven.

I also found the guys and gals on the 'southern cruise' very nice too, i had no doubt that they would be any different

After my meet up in the focus DIY car park it was nice to see so many people, 5 mins later and away we went (at speed) I didnt quite expect that so soon......
Im just glad that every one on the drive was a competent driver and didnt mind chucking it around a little. Anyone who wasnt of that ilk could have been put of quite quickly.
Id defo be up for another run out somewhere, Sorry i didnt get to chat to many people who were there on the day due to different driving groups and the seating in the pub..........Next time though maybe we will have more time chatting

I thoroughly enjoyed myself though and await the next meeting............
