South West Inaugural Meet Sunday 20th October

haha, they'd see through that straight away as I am somewhat follicly challenged!

Got 80+ Windows 7 workstations to upgrade to Win10, single handedly by early Jan and what with the usual daily firefighting of IT problems, time is not on my side.

An IT expert? I take my hat off to you, I’ve never understood them! :P

Tell them Windows10 is tosh, it is. Then simply keep Windows7 and head for the hills in the Zed :driving:

Change the word "expert" to "monkey" and you've described me perfectly! Against my peers I am nothing special, but do know how to turn the darn things on and there is only one response needed to about 95% of problems....turn it off and on again! (people always laugh at that, but it can genuinely be the cure for loads of things).

Its possible to automate the process but I didn't see the point in investing time in setting that up when I have to monitor each one as its upgrading, so old school manual for me!

Was looking forward to getting a ride in your mapped car and could probably find a few Carly mods I desperately need :D

If only! Still have a handful of XP floating around due to old software! Some tw@t told the top brass that after MS stop supporting Win7 in Jan that nothing will work! So I had to correct that one, but I'd like everything on the same version to make it easier to support.

Bump. will be testing the route on Sunday!

Watch this space..

Was that you I saw coming out of the little mini roundabout at Tavistock this morning?
Just seen this thread, I MIGHT be able to join in for a bit of the drive from Tavistock onto the moor if I'm not in Yorkshire, hope it goes well either way!

Yes it was... weather was pretty bad but worth it just to check out the photo opportunities. We're planning to get to Warren House inn at about 12.30 I think, with a brief stop just before at the big car park at the top of pork hill for a few group shots... Hope to see you then!

Looks like I'm gonna have to back out I'm afraid as I think I'm going to need to be at work next weekend which is a absolute cnut cos I was really looking forward to this. If I can get out of work I'll be there but probably best to assume I won't be able to make it.

If I don't come, I will expect pictures and write up from those that do

Feel bad as I know a lot of organisation is going into it but would rather let you know, instead of just not turning up.
Ok, no problem. hopefully there'll be enough interest for another next year :D

Weather looking ok at this point.... twas a little damp yesterday although I should have gone out in the afternoon when it was reasonable!z4meet.png

Ps, I’ll bring along my Carly for some e89 coding if there’s time

Should be plenty of time.. the route isn't that far... I'm tempted to drive the route in reverse at the end just for the fun of it - one of my favourite routes from two bridges to mortenhampstead (despite the suicidal sheep lying in the middle of the road, and the occasional faceoff with a cow).

Rob never forget the fundamentals

I'm a scoucer, I've been training for retirement since I started at school. :D

Unfortunately though, I'm a slow learner.

Numbers are dwindling a little but hopefully a few will come with the nice weather forecast. I've booked breakfast and lunch locations and we'll get some pictures on the way.. if people are aiming to join us somewhere en route the timetable is likely to be..
10 am woodleigh guest house for introductions, checking out each others cars and a bacon sarnie..
12 ish at the car park at the top of pork hill just out of tavistock.
Possibly a picture stop at two bridges on the old bridge..
1 pm for lunch at the Warren House Inn
Then we'll decide if people would like to go to the motor museum in mortonhampstead. No pressure to do that...

Think we still have
Clarker63/Rob(me!)
Phoenixboy/?
Smartbear/Rob
Buzyg/John
Mcbutler/Mark
Osiris/Tony + 1

'll update the Google maps route when I'm on my laptop with the exact route. It's changed very slightly from my dry run last Sunday.

See you there!

Looking forward to it. Port view car park gets pretty busy on a Sunny Sunday. It is big though, sure we will find a quite corner away from the ice cream van. :D
