Sound Generator components

I am looking for all the pipework etc that I would require to add the sound generator to my wife's standard M54 2.5i.

If you can help with her need for more noise, please let me know. Thanks.

Ebay £124 from Lithuania but isn't everything

Yep I did see that thank you.
Lithuania though? At this moment in time I'm a little wary. Not of the seller as their feedback is all good, but of the chances of it getting delivered. It is only 'essential' in as much as it gets the missus off my back :D

Can anyone tell me though, is that kit EVERYTHING I need to fit?

Thank you?

It should do, I've had stuff from Netherlands via DHL for example.

Good point, I don't think it is you need the tube and grommet thing that goes in the fire wall where the pipe connects. Those bits are 9 and 10 in the diagram. Can't see an ebay listing for those though...

I had to cut a hole in my firewall blanking plug/ grommet to feed the tube into.

I had removed my whole tubing that went into the firewall and it actually sounded much better! The tubing quietened it back down a tad when put back in however...

I'm confused now?
My wife's car does not have any of the plumbing for the sound generator at all. Just a blank in the bulkhead where it would go.
So, are you saying that when you reverted yours to that spec it sounded better?
Does not compute?

Yeah, once I put all the tubing back on it quietened down. I have the blank like yours with no piping 8)

If your wanting a bit more growl, exhaust is a good place to start, plus you will also shave a lot of weight on stock exhaust.

If you remove the tubing going to the bulkhead you’re still left with the sound generator itself on the side of the inlet manifold, that’s a different set up to enuff-zeds car which has none of the hardware at all :?

Exactly! Thanks Rob.
Think I may have sourced almost all the bits I need now. So there's another 'stuck at home 'project looming.

Yes exactly. Kinda hard to explain but I know what you mean. He has exact same set up as me at the moment which would prob give u max sound...

I don’t think he does have the same set up as you, his car doesn’t have any of the sound generator parts fitted at all? :?

That's correct Rob.
I am looking to retrofit the whole assembly.

Mines doesn't have any of the sound generator parts either, as stated earlier :poke:

I'm sure you said you removed the tubing? That implies to me that your car had the sound generator?
Well anyway, I now have nearly all the bits sourced so I'll give it a try regardless.

Correct. My car did have the sound generator. I removed all the tubing (the whole assembly) and it increased the noise. After putting the whole assembly back on, it quietened down.

No sound generator assembly = more noise.
Sound generator assembly put back on = less noise.

Still does not compute?
Did that include putting the original elbow back on?
There is no way I can make this car quieter in the cabin than it is now.
I think something is missing in the understanding between us?

There’s a misunderstanding here, if you removed the sound generator in its entirety it’s not going to get louder.
If you’ve just removed the tubing that goes to the bulkhead then that’s not the sound generator, that’s just the tube that carries the sound generators sound to the cabin :poke:
