We really notice the difference between our usual place of residence (Leicestershire) and our other home in Cornwall.
Both Leicester and Nottingham feel intimidating places to drive and work, whereas Cornwall feels like its about 20 to 30 years behind the rest of the country, and our place is in a village near Newquay!!
In many ways Cornwall does feel like a different country (which it is, it has it's own flag

) because the attitudes down there are much more community focused. I've always wondered if it stems from *having* to do stuff for themselves because they're isolated a bit, and that they've got the sea all around, giving the kids lots to do. I think a love of the place they live in is built in when you're born there (we're not Unfortunatly).
