I've got a suction mount, had it many years as my ex GF got it for me when I used to do some video stuff with my old car and friends. Just mounted that at the front on the bonnet and used the timer on the camera, had to leg it in and drive off before it took the photo - so I've now bought a remote for my next attempts.
It is a bit worrying having a fair bit of money sat on the bonnet held on by a suction mount but seems to work well enough.
