Or at least these people think so.

Pretty interesting read actually. :D

LOL, predictable! You could go on an S2000 forum and they'd slate the Z4... you could go on a Merc forum and they'd do the same... you could even go on a Fiat Punto forum and they'd be discussing reasons their cars are better, LOL.

Well, at least the S2K is on par with the Z4 performance-wise, and Merc is on the same brand prestige level as BMW. :D

It's all good though. Sort of gives us a perspective of how owners of other car makes/models view the Z4. :)

I thought there were some really reasonable people on there. The only one that really made me chuckle is the guy who said he smoked an ///M in his Solstice.... ...the driver of the ///M must have been sleeping LOL!!

Have you been drinking again lovely lady :fuelfire:

He said that he ate the dust of a Z4M.... :poke: :poke: :poke:

So... lookin' at replacing your M with a Sol, eh GP20? :poke:

Funny... I thought that thread could have turned into a Z4 bash-fest, but the members there seemed very conservative. Kudos to that. BIG difference compared to some 3 series forums where the members think the 3er is untouchable.

I found it interesting how many people thought the Solstice styling was better than the Z4's. It really comes down to opinion, but I always looked at the Solstice as GM's poor attempt to pattern a roadster after the Z4.

I thought that a Solstice is cute. I do not mind it's look and shape. The engines leave a lot to be desired though. The fit and finish of the 2 Z4Ms I have had wasn't the best.... I guess the Solstice is even worse.... How do the residuals hold up on the Solstice??

I went to that website and those folks are delusional. While i admit the Solstice does have a nice look to it. It really is just a $25K POS. The top looks like it was added on from a different car. and the body looks like it was designed by Mattel. I can't imagine how poorly it must handle

But then I haven't owned an American car since 1982.

I've driven the Soltice, anyone here driven one also? A girlfriend at the gym husband bought her one for her birthday and she let me drive it. Not bad, but felt 'thick'; engine smoothness, acceleration and tight curve handling left plenty to be desired. I liked the steering though, and the design is alright I suppose. I'm one of the few who saw the new Z design and fell madly in love immediately - didn't have to grow on me at all.
Oh, I didn't let her drive my Z!

...just wanted to add that the interior looks are decent too..

I test drove the Solstice GXP before I picked up my Z.
It was a lot of fun but felt very loose. When I punched the pedal in a turn it shook abruptly and then took off. Was actually a lot of fun to drive.
I drove the Z the next day and that's when I realized there was absolutely no comparison in craftsmanship. The fit and finish of the Z just felt solid and it made me realize how "cheap" the solstice felt.
I do like the looks of it a lot. The top does look horrible in the up position (where it meets the body in the rear).
Needless to say, I drove home in my Z the day I test drove it! :D

I am curious as to how the sport version (whatever it is...redline or somesuch?) of the solstice compares to our Z. As far as looks it's to each it's own. I haven't even been anywhere's near one so we could race. I'm interested to see how the saturn sky compares as well. I love how the sky looks.
*edit*
Lol, one guy thinks he get's more heads turned in his. I'd have to admit (with modesty) it's about equal from what i've noticed on base where someone in my squadron drives a yellow solstice.

I think the solstice is quite possibly the best looking roadster out there. I actually liked the solstice as much if not better than the z4(at least in looks)...initially. In fact, I originally planned on buying one. But then I went in for a closer look and a test drive. It doesn't have a trunk!!! I couln't even fit my briefcase in the "trunk" when the top was down. This was to be my daily driver so there's no way I could live without a functional trunk. That's what caused me to look at the Z4 closer. I had always loved the car...but never thought I could afford one.

So while the solstice is absolutely beautiful, poor design (specifically, the convertible softtop) really detracted from it's overall appeal in my opinion. To this day, I just shake my head when I see one and think "how could GM design such a fantastic looking car and not give it a trunk!"

Of course this initial opinion of mine was purely based on looks...I won't even go into the performance difference as that's a whole different topic.

I especially like this comment ... "every obnoxious armpit of an aggressive driver on the highways around here drives a BMW of some kind. I didn't wish to be associated with that pack. The Z model is a nice car, it's the idiot inside that lessens it's aura."

Many people I see in BMW's appear to be on the way to the country club, and have no idea about what these cars are capable of. In fact at the dealership last week, a guy told me he bought the M3 sedan rather than coupe because a "luxury car should have 4 doors." :o

And I agree with 2 Zero, the roof on the Sol is one of the worst design jobs i've ever seen.
