Hi guys and girls

A little quiet at work at the moment so had a go at making a solid stainless steel gear knob for the car , really pleased with the results. Nicely waited about 450 grams and makes the gear change seem a lot smother. Its so tactile that you spend most of your time when driving caressing it.Much to my girlfriends amazement :D

iam now selling these to members if anyones interested drop me a pm

Just to add to this I've been lucky enough to have been using one of these (I think it was a top secret prototype that escaped the lab) since Friday and it is a top bit of kit.

Yep one escaped the lab :) knocked a second one up for playalistic to have a try just to get some feed back , glad you liked it and looks really nice against your carbon trim.(post a pic )
I am thinking i might sell them to fellow members if i can muster up enough interest and at a lot cheaper than the other popular stainless gear knobs.
if anyone's interested give me a pm

Looking good  Always wanted the tools to be able to create things such as this from ali block. Also the kit to polish and anodize. Was this created by CNC?

Hi inkey$

Yes iam a manager at a engineering workshop and this was created on a 4 axis cnc lathe business is a bit quite at the moment so i knocked a couple up .

You're a very lucky man to have access to that type of kit. Few years ago I used to be a graphic designer at a medical instruments factory and managed to get the get the guys in the prototype shop to knock me up a few things on spec. I find the process fascinating and the one day I'd love to jack in the current day job to setup something up making bespoke parts, props etc.

Keep up the good work jonnyfive; it's a proper artform

Thats really nice. Would it go on an auto? Presumably not as you need to depress the trigger to click it out of park/neutral.

Hi dannyd

Not to sure about a auto would have to look at one to see if it can be done , ill look in to it .

Hi Bladders

Ill speak to my engravers tomorrow and see if thay can do it , so could be custom to five or six speed all depends on how much though il let yo know.

Hi IvanDobskey

Basically once you pulled you original gear knob off you just slip this on and there is a single grub screw to tighten up takes about five mins tops to fit. pretty much the same as all aftermarket gear knobs.

Hi bud,

Must say, a job bloody well done. It looks awesome and is set off with the interior nicely!

I've just this wkend purchased a ZHP, but yours would make a great summer addition... how much are you doing them for?

Also, if things really take off, I'm a senior consultant at Premier Engineering Recruitment, so if you need extra hands to cope with the demand, drop me a line! :D

Ok guys

Visited the engravers today and droped the gear knob off hopefully have a price tomorrow if he can do it , will keep you all posted.

I thought you were taking the piss at first and had just posted a photo of one you'd bought - truely great work to make that

I'd certainly be keen to know how much you'd be able to sell me one for my Z4. I like my small metal Richbrook knob, but a bigger knob wouldn't go amiss........

Hi a11y
