Sold

After trawling through pages and pages I'm still confused as to what the price is.. can the OP post it clearly please?

Isn't it in the title?

I feel a bit sorry for the OP. In my opinion I think he's a genuine sounding guy, but he's had a bit of a harsh education with this sale process. A lot of trouble could've been avoided if that original advert (and the eBay one) resembled the edited first post on the thread, meaning the whole story of the Cat D was upfront and unequivocal.

To improve the advert further I would add some photos of the service book so buyers can see where you have had the car maintained.

Every once in a while we get for sale threads that create a lot of heated debate. This one is just the latest. You'll never see mine for sale on here when the time comes for a change, that's for sure

Heehee , will it be WBAC, trade in or Ebay :)
At least you get a more enthusiastic class of to$$er on here :P

Shame is if that car had appeared at a few meets , had post after post of heritage on here then 99% of folks would have waltzed along happy to the tune
What I see is a decent "looking" M with low miles at a fair price , anything else written is pure speculation until viewed but i still feel the ask doesn't allow for the Cat D status enough to prompt a viewing .
jmo though so no offence intended Ross

But with cars going up at 19k you could argue 12k is a snip. Personally I would want photo evidence pre repair before buying a cat d car. At least that way you have more of an idea what you are buying. In saying that how many cars have had serious repairs that are un recorded though. They never get a mention of course.

Agree 100% with nearly all you comments Andy.
Price can always be negotiated.

£19k is a dealer price tho ? As Mark proved sub £15k got no action & the car was pretty much perfect .
You will always have to find a minority buyer with any Cat D car as to the majority its like playing footy with a ball covered in dog$hit :o everyones keen but who really wants the next kick

That made me giggle. But price can always go down not up. It's for a potential buyer and the op to sort out.

great car, OP is super cool as well imo, hasn't thrown the toys out the pram despite the thread going off track from his original Advert, great car and ALOT of car for the money.... OP hold out you'll sell this.

Haha! That made me chuckle Mr W

Probably a trade-in. Although there are one or two people who've said they'd be interested if I ever sell. I suppose as well, that because mine has been to a fair few Forum runs, a lot of members have seen it close up.

Genuine well done Ross, the ad is now as it should be, up-front, factual and informative. You now have a better chance of getting fair value and a buyer of being in an informed position buy confidently 8)

Ross - you now have the approval of the "editor in chief" and the person whom clearly feels has the definitive right to say so. I find it quite offensive that someone feels that their endorsement "the ad is now as it should be" (in their opinion) makes everything OK.

I am a relatively new member and having read this entire thread it concerns me the inconsistencies in people's interpretation of facts. That said I do find the majority of dialogue on the site absolutely fantastic and people are genuinely helpful - it's because of that I am looking forward to being a member.

I am not trying to be confrontational Ewazix and I am mindful that you are a very experienced member of the site and I'll happily apologise now if I've offended you. I just want to state for the record that as a potential buyer I was never misled by the advert and Ross has been more than a gentleman to re-write the advert - a sign of his integrity and genuineness. No doubt potential buyers will have enough information to make an informed conclusion and carry out their own checks.

......and relax........

Excellent update by the seller - now let us all leave it at that and let any future buyer make the decision for themselves.

GLWT

No offence taken at all, other than the selective quote I actually said the ad was now "as it should be, factual up-front and informative" which is surely how an ad should be on a community forum. It wasn't intended to be condescending and I apologise if that's how it came over, having given Ross some stick over the ad I felt it was only right to echo what others were saying about the improvement and gracious way he re-wrote it.
