Prices are gradually falling over time. There will be seasonal peaks in supply and demand with prices varying accordingly, but the yearly trend can only be downwards.

To get really nerdy, sadly Z4's are written off every month, but I'd wager that most hard tops are not damaged so supply for hardtops vs Z4's may actually slightly increase overtime. Yet, it's the drop in value of Z4's that's really causing the prices of hardtops to drop. The folks with bigger wallets have moved on to another, new car.

Some sellers will have trouble adjusting to the fact prices are changing. You can see the same in the housing market where sellers perception's of price frequently lags today's lower values by 6 months.

Our cars are devaluing too, again seasonal supply and demand plays a part.

Hi I am glad that Citation 650 brought up the negative comments.

I always thought Forums were supposed to be places where knowledge would be shared and members tried there best to help each other and a bit of fun was had by all.

Surley they are not Orwellian bound by petty rules re posting lets be honest some of it is posting for postings sake just to get the figures up.

Alan J's comments about my first post re contribution well Alan perhaps my contribution was not to waste other members time by posting for the sake of it.

Perhaps Alan my real contribution was to ensure another Forum member got the hardtop and is happy with the deal we struck.

Hey Frank mmmmmmm you did not burst any bubbles you got a little lucky there is always an exception but at £665 you still paid a dam site more than your original offer of £500.
 
i made an offer, sombody jumped in with their opinion that i would NEVER get one for anywhere near that price, even tho my offer to that seller had zero to do with them, i then stated that id got the item for pretty close to what i wanted to pay (im paying £650 cash), it has nothing to do with luck mate

this is a cracking forum, but lets not get our knickers in a twist here, i doubt anybody is losing sleep over sombody elses forum comments, negative or not, life is harsh, and ive not seen anythingg on this forum that i would consider anybody could possibly take offence to

Just one thing that hasn't been picked-up here that has a huge affect on price - the colour.

As I've already mentioned, I've been looking for a decent Hardtop for about 18 months.

Sure i've seen a (very) few go for the £600 - 700 mark but rarely in the popular colours (frankwhite1978 - you did well there, hope it's a good one)

Sterling Grey tops (my car's colour) just haven't gone cheaply - any time of the year (unfortunately, this just has to be the most common colour - and the best IMO :poke: )

Always plenty of bidders on Ebay for the common colours, and it only takes 2 to drive the price up. On the other hand I've seen less common colours go for a bit more of a bargain from time to

time due to reduced bidding activity.
 
bmwangler - really pleased for you and bluedaxcobra for getting the sale and to move this hardtop to a new home.

Really love mine in the Winter and it give s me 2 cars for the different seasons and yes on Sterling grey it somehow looks special :thumbsup:
 
I have the hard top stand boxed in my shed for this roof - I used to have a 3.0. 53 plate z4 but I've been driving a z4mc for last 4 years. Any offers for the stand + p & p ? Was quite expensive new when I originally bought it.
 
My silver hardtop is scheduled to go on ebay in October unless someone wants to offer over £875 for it on here

Also the 17" wheels (second photo) from a 2009 3 series coupe are also for sale, all are slightly curbed but OK for winter

Best offer over £275, no tyres, but the winter tyres are cheaper now than in December

here is mine, purchased today for £650

really quiet on motorway coming home, but when i got onto the bumpier roads, i noticed it is very noisy, not so much a rattle but more of a loud clunk whenever going over bumps, it must be on securely as i drove for 3 hours on the motorway at some pretty decent speeds, anybody else have the same problem with their hardtop ?
 
Clunking means the hardtop is likely hitting the bodywork or the 2 rear clamps are not done up. Check this 1st then adjust the rear to create the correct 5mm gap. Should then be silent.
 
To bmwangler the car looks really great with the hardtop fitted . I told you that you would not be disappointed!

I think the Z4 looks awesome with the hardtop fitted
 
They look awesome with the hardtop , just thinking about this winter if it's anything like last years mines going too hibernate in my brothers garage :)
Going to try and hunt a sub £500 hardtop , i'm sure there is one out there with my name on it
 
i noticed this morning that on one side (at the back near boot) the gap is far larger (from bodywork) than other the other side where its almost no gap atall, anybody know how to even this out ?

any response would be mighty helpfull....
 
Agree with CJ10 jeeper, the hard top gives you 2 cars for the price of one. Got mine off Ebay for £670 last month.
Sterling grey top on a Titanium silver car, looks so cool, havent taken it off since collecting it.
Will try to post some pics soon.
