I am looking for about £900 and obviously collection only.
I live in the Midlands between junct's 26 and 27 of the M1

Hi I know there will be some interest in this but before anyone else tells you - IT'S NOT THE DONE THING TO MAKE NO CONTRIBUTION TO THE FORUM AND THEN YOUR FIRST POST IS TO SELL SOMETHING  ...... and yes I know you joined back in May 2010

Wow - can't believe you'd tip painted roof upside down on a lawn :o

As an aside you say only used last Wintrr, so did you buy it brand new or is it several years old as per it's manufacture date label.

Dont worry the finish is rock hard and the grass is soft.
Wanted to show the condition of the inside as well.
I bought last year from a retired guy in Bristol who purchased it new from BMW but never used it and I have no reason to doubt him.
He sold as he had just bought a brand new Z4 in red with the fabulous folding roof.
I fitted it November last year and took it off in March.
Hope that answers your question.

Just a personal opinion that it's no way to treat a painted surface given even washing damages paint, so grinding an 80kg roof into a lawn will scratch it.

In terms of the ownership, I think that will help buyers and avoid confusion about age and history

Sure it will sell. If not now in a few months.

if you have zero joy selling it at that price (im sure you will sell as its fair) PM me as i might be interested at around the £500 mark

I imagine you would be LMAO!

Enjoy the wait, its going to be a bloody long one! I've watched hardtop prices for the last five years and NEVER seen one go that low.

Yep - not a good time to sell one. Suns out and roof down so nobody needs it nor want to store it.

Give it 2 to 3 months and they fetch that everyday. Well at least did last year.

yeah and ive seen plenty of people try and sell them on ebay recently for £900 and then relist it a week later when nobody buys it.....

Thats just ebay behaviour.....nobody likes to bid on a top that STARTS at £900 even though they are likely to end up paying that much or more, its just psychology. I've seen silver ones go for over £1200 from a 'no reserve' position.

We can watch this one to see what the markets like this time of year (recession notwithstanding LOL)......

I wonder if hardtop prices are falling for the Z4, one in new & unsused condition with bag etc sold for £820 on ebay ten days ago, and average units have sold for £600. Could be fewer people need them for evryday year-round use as the average age of Zeds goes up? or they are falling in line with car prices. Z3 hardtops are real cheap now.

I'm interested in one but wouldn't pay strong money.

i think it stands to reason that as the Z4 gets older, the price of the roofs will drop, but i do agree that they seem to hold there value pretty well, im hoping to buy that silver one myself, but im dam sure i wont be paying over £600 for it, im confident that in a few months ill see one for that money, might ave to get it sprayed but i can get that done for next to nothing by a mate

I'm not so sure the price will drop for a good few years. There's no new supply of people buying one with a new car and moving it on after 2 years of company car lease, etc. There are none or few left at BMW. Many are now on 'keeper' cars like mine so don't come to Market.

While they may be at near peak I wouldn't count on a big price drop and expect to see £1000 plus again this Autumn.

The discussion on hardtop prices has been interesting CJ10jeeper is right I dont think the price will drop for some time.

There are not many about 2 currently on ebay.

So if you are looking for one in good condition at less than £600 you my be waiting for a while.

I only put mine up for sale as Stratstone offered £150 extra for it on a part ex.

As to having a long wait perhaps 3 months to sell it because the sun is shining on the contrary it went within the week collected and fitted tonight.

sorry to burst your bubbles, but ive just won a silver one on ebay for £665, and ive seen about 10 sell in the last few months, the people asking close to a grand just dont seem to be getting any bids, the ones that start under £200 gets loads of interest, anyway im now the proud owner of a sliver one to go on my silver 2.2 for the winter, hopefully look nice, next purchase will be eibachs, then after 12 months swap it in for a coupe !

Looks to me like a guy wanting to sell a nice hardtop. Why all the critical comments, especially from moderators? :poke: (Sure took him a long time to sell it :fuelfire: )

Various opinions, comments aside, I'm pleased to say that I am now the proud owner of bluedaxcobra's hardtop.

I've been looking on and off for about 18 months, actually bought one on ebay which was a wreck (didn't pay - NOT as described).

This one had only been on a car for a few months and is in absolutely as new condition, complete with trims, cover, tool and manuals, and we struck a good mutual deal.

The Seller was a great guy, and actually gave me a few bits for my Zed that he had kept (he no longer has a Z4).

Al-in-all just the sort of transaction you want - I left with complete peace of mind.

I'm over the moon with the look of the car with the hardtop fitted - looks fantastic. Pics below :) :) :)
