SOLD: 2004 Z4 3.0i Titanium Silver, Red M-Sport seats, 107s, £3,000

Mr Whippy

Veteran
 Harrogate
Long story short, I've got a deposit down on a Golf V R32 and ideally I'd like to sell the Z4 before I pick it up in around a weeks time.

After much thought on the matter ( https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=102956 ) I've decided to sell my Z4. I can't bring myself to long term store it because I just don't have the means to do it properly, and the car should be enjoyed and driven rather than sit around unused.

The proceeds from the sale will be going to two charities.

My wife and I lost our five day old son three years ago. The Harrogate District Hospital SCBU where he spent his five days with us did such an amazing job that we would like to give half of the money to help the Harrogate SCBU team support other families who end up needing them.

And my Dad passed away just before Christmas after a very late diagnosis with cancer. Despite us supporting him at home, he did eventually move to a Sue Ryder hospice where he stayed for a short time. The second half of the money will be given to Sue Ryder at Headingley

I'm not sure if this is important to buyers, but it's important that you know my motivation for selling isn't about the money at all. I just want the car to go to a caring home and a buyer who really wants it, and the money to go and do something valuable for others!

2015:
  • Rear brake discs, £137 inc fitting (includes labour for a broken rear spring, all part of issues in poor/weird handbrake performance diagnostic)
  • New rear spring, one had snapped (again! last one in 2012), but I like OE, so bought matching Suplex (invoice to find, ordered on phone and I fear I just got a box?!)

2014:

  • New keys and valet key from BMW Sandal Wakefield, £126.

Other bits and bobs:
  • Aux connection from BMW Sandal Wakefield
  • New first aid kit
  • M sport gear knob from BMW Sandal Wakefield (still have original)
  • Stubby aerial (still have original)

  • New DISA from BMW Sandal Wakefield in 2009/2010, probably have invoice in my pile, but there is a thread on here about it any way)

Downsides:
The alloy wheels need reconditioning. The front pair are ok, but the rears need doing (Exel Wheels are so slow I'm still waiting haha).
The occupancy sensor warning light is present. However I have a brand new mat and underseat box (£200 from BMW) to fit.
The CD multi-changer isn't working. In fact it's got six of my CD's that I'd like back. It does work intermittently.
Despite still driving really nicely, the tracking probably needs doing after lots of recent suspension work.
Some feint bubbling starting on the offside arches, and possibly very feint on the nearside rear arch (I'll get recent photos up)
Some feint localised bubbling on rear wing tops where the roof meets the wings (again I'll get recent photos)

I find the process of buying cars a real chore because of the distances and time involved to find a car not as you expected. I've tried to be as thorough as possible about the car's state so anyone coming to look should already have a good feel for what they're coming to see.

Most people who've seen the car say it looks great for the age/mileage. I think it's in great shape for the age/mileage, but I know it's not perfect so it is priced accordingly.

It's raining and snowing where I live right now, and the car needs a good wash. The photos attached are from last spring, but I'll update with some recent pics and some of the interior as soon as the weather improves and I get chance to clean the car!

I live in Pateley Bridge, Harrogate. I'm generally free any time so please just PM me if you'd like to come see the car.

If anyone would like more specific details/photos of the car please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for looking.

Dave

Great looking car that has many more miles enjoyment left , hope it does find a forum home , it would be a fitting way for you to part with it :(

A wonderfully selfless act mate. I hope you stay on the forum after you sell up, always sad to se someone who’s been on the forum as long as we have leave! GLWTS.

So sorry to hear about your son.
Good on you making the donations. Very selfless and a great thing to do.
I will be directing a work college towards the thread. He can’t make up his mind to buy or not. But he would make a good custodian.

Sorry to hear about your son and dad.
This is both a massive and a fantastic gesture that you should rightly be applauded for.
With those seats in that colour and bearing in mind just how rare and expensive they are, you may well find a forum member buys it to nab the seats and then sells it on. I must admit I'd be tempted if red seats were my thing.

Heart wrenching story behind this sale - a cracking looking Zed that deserves a new home for all kinds of reasons

I have a viewing on Sunday.

I’ll try keep the thread updated so people know what’s going on if they’re planning to come sooner or whatever else.

I’ll try get updated pics and interior images up asap too.

Cheers

Dave

Sunday viewing now not happening, too far away haha.

My wife was home late so no pics today. Possibility to get it washed and photographed tomorrow!

Now have Navid coming to see it on Saturday.

Did you have a Titanium Silver 2.5 before Navid?

Looking to return to Z4 ownership?

Cheers

Dave

This is a really inspiring thread - what a generous and thoughtful idea!

I hope the sale goes smoothly OP.

Moving story, and sorry to hear about your losses.
Hope you get a buyer who appreciates the car, etc.
All the best.

I would buy it just for the seats but given the story and the fact the car is so well cared for I couldn't do it!

GLWS :)

That's correct Dave, got the Z4 itch again

Wonder if you can attach gift aid to that, it would help the charities a lot.

Nice to see this gesture though.

I’ve just driven mine out for a run and after doing 30miles in the 335xd earlier, it’s made the Z4 stand out as something completely amazingly special again.
I’ve got the itch again too!

I’m gutted to let it go, but I’m happy that letting it go is doing some good for others, and that the Z4 will be going to an enthusiast who actually wants it.

I’ve just done a quick clean prep in the rain, ready for a bit of a spring clean tomorrow afternoon.

All is well with straightness everywhere except this small dink on the rear drivers arch.

I’ll update the advert fully tomorrow evening if everything pans out with the weather etc.

New pics, interior pics, etc.

pvr, I’ll make sure to take any tax incentives if any apply for these donations.

Cheers

Hi Dave

New to the forum but have been following it for a good year, so I understand you wanting the z4 to go to an owner that will appreciate the car.

I am interested in the z4, is it possible for a contact number to arrange a viewing. I would potentially look to view the car tomorrow.

Many thanks

Cameron

Hi Cameron,

I’m having trouble with my new R32, the service book isn’t turning up but I’m giving it some time before I call it a day and find another to buy.

I can’t be without a 2nd car so for now I can’t sell the Z4.

Navid is booked in to view the car next Sunday, 15th April.

You’re welcome to come view the car sooner, but Navid has first refusal to buy as I’ve had these delays at my end, so you’d have to leave me with an offer, and also realise there may be a bit of a delay due to my replacement car being delayed.

Where would you be coming from?

Many thanks

Dave

Hi Dave

Thanks for the reply. I understand, thats not a problem.

I am located in Warwickshire, so quite a distance !

I think it would be best if Navid was to view the Z4 next Sunday and if its still available I would be very interested to have a viewing. If the situation does change before then please do let me know and I would try to come up next weekend as I am very interested in the car.

Many Thanks

Cameron
