Software DIS/SSS/INPA etc

What should the memory settings for DIS be in VMWare? Mine is currently set to 512Mb.mac27040 said:
No - the top adapter does not light up, but I have followed (and re-checked) all the instructions.
Does it matter whether the key is in the ignition, and if so whether it's in position 1, 2 or "engine running"?
I'm having the same problem as others here - set everything up according to instructions, but just can't get DIS to work. No "Free diagnostic head" shows up (after choosing "Administration" followed by "Diagnostic Head" under the "Config" menu). However SSS is working fine (I just changed a number of settings on my car, although I couldn't set the roof to close by holding the Close button on the remote - guess I'll need to use NCS Expert for that).
I did find all the software a bit temperamental though. Even on a clean XP laptop, the first time that I connected SSS to the car it kept coming up with a module error. I then tried DIS, but got a "cannot connect to head" error. Went back to SSS so that I could write down the error and research it, only for it all to work. Have had similar experiences (getting modules errors when trying to use CKM in SSS) with my M5.
Has anybody had any experience with the BMW Scanner? Is it any better? http://www.cardiag.co.uk/bmw-scanner-140v-43.html

A lot of things can also be programmed with SSS which is a little easier to use. Here's the list of E85/E86 Car Key Memory (CKM) Settings
Perhaps we should consolidate these and the NCS Expert codes of mac27040 together somewhere.

Would like to have the software myself but only have a company laptop which they wouldn't be happy with me installing this kind of thing on

Do you have a pre or post facelift car? I believe that only the post facelift cas can do the 3 flash thing

Thats wot I got!! I'm working on an installation procedure as we speak as I think some of their files wont install properly and I have downloaded repacement ones. What version of windows are you installing on? What problems have you had? Where abouts are you based?

However with a bit of searching around i was aple to find a replacement and downloaded it.
Then I decided to make my laptop a dual boot system and installed 32 bit Windows along side the 64 bit version, now the laptop is a Toshiba Satallite Pro and was only sold as a 64 bit machine so cant get the 32 bit drivers for display, network cards etc. But it works fine, and the 64 bit installation gives me full internet access etc.
Give me a few days and I will hopefully have somthing to share!!
