Soft top lining seems loose

My E85 soft top lining is loose and drags across the role hoops, also I have to push down the roof down when it finishes dropping to make it click into place. I have found an old thread on here on the problem and it seems to be that it has come adrift from a plastic hoop in the roof. It shows how to dismantle the roof header to repair this. However I'm not confident enough to do this myself, so is there anyone that has had this repaired satisfactorily and can point me to the garage that did the work for them, not too far from South Devon hopefully. Thank you in advance.

What usually happens is the plastic hoop breaks where the attach screws are, and it sags at that point.

Thank you, yes I’ve seen a thread on here, just wondering if anyone knows of a company that can do the repair

Have just had to sort this on mine, if you lower the roof about a foot then stop the operation you can easily see where the hoop has cracked, mine was above the passenger side. It is easily repaired. Black CT 1 is perfect, i got mine from Toolstation. Just take out the little screw around the crack and while someone holds it slightly away from the fabric carefully squeeze some around the affected area then find something to prop the roof at that point, it needs a couple of hours to bond, i used a brush stail. It repaired it perfectly.

Hope this helps, cheers, tug

Thank you tug, mine also seems to be on the passenger side as this is where it drags across the roll hoop. I will need to wait until next spring for some better weather as I keep the car outside. I am a bit worried about getting it all back together neatly after taking it apart.

No need to take apart mate, just open roof about a foot or so, you will see the crack along the plastic strip which is the edge of the liner. It is part of the roof itself, not the solid frame above the windscreen.

Oh, I thought I needed to remove the roof header to peel back the liner to get to the plastic frame. Thank you tug, I will have look tomorrow, this sounds a bit more Mikey doable now. :D
