2004 BMW Z4 E85 Rear-window (Soft-top)

Hi everyone,

I need to replace the rear window to my car and since the canvas roof is still in good condition I only want to replace the window, but BMW onle sells the roof and the window as a whole. I want to have the window made with the correct thickness, dimensions and curve, can someone please supply me with these specs?

I’ll be corrected if wrong but I am fairly sure you cannot unbond and replace the glass

In the past I’ve replaced the whole roof and I think when others have had the same issue and gone via insurance it’s been the same outcome

In theory you could replace the glass. It depends on your commitment, skill levels, bravery and how fussy you'd be on the finish.

You can buy the glass on ebay from £50 to £100 second hand.

Most of us would opt for the replacement of the roof but finding a very good second hand one isn't always easy.
