If your car can handle lead ethyline (sp?), you can use aviation fuels. Not legal :evil: , and it is bad for the catalytic converter, but it is 100 octane. There is also 100/130 octane for the old WWII fighters, but its rare (and expensive)... It will add a chance of lead fouling, but it will make the motor purr like a kitten sleeping on your lap, then growl like a hungry cougar when you jump on the gas. :fuelfire:

I don't recommend running "leaded" fuels in any BMW. Most rubber parts in your fuel system are not designed to handle the lead in the fuel. The lead will cause the rubber seals and "O" rings to prematurely deteriorate, which could lead to fuel leaks and clogged filters.
 
Whats the city/address we'd be staying? I'm still thinking i'll stay with my friend in desert hot springs as it seems like a short trip.

It's kinda ironic - last week there was a forrest fire at big bear ... this weekend it's raining down here, and snow is expected up at big bear ... I wonder what Dec 1st will bring us ...... All I want is a dry pavement (just that one long stretch) and I don't care how cold it'll be! :tumbleweed:
 
Well, socal, i'm glad you can make it. I'd EXPECT you to be there. All we need is Vroomer to make the Three Musketeers.

I'm thinking about it if I can get a spare driver to help me out.

Ok, my friends is 40min away so unless i'm feeling really tired I'll probably just head back to his place that night-might even bring him along. Now the thing will be meeting up with people before the event. Anyone driving in a group from Vegas or San Bernardino area on I-10?
Turns out I won't bend/break any distance rules, that's just inside my area. I may yet take one day of leave just so I don't have to go into work sunday night.
 
My brother in law comes home from vacation in Italy (poor guy) tomorrow. I'll find out if I can get the radar gun for the weekend...
 
As a survivor of the 1st Desert Run I can attest to it being BIG FUN. If you go you won't forget it. :!: :!: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

That is the most gorgeous color, and the tan roof matches it perfectly! But, then again, that's what made me buy it.

I'm looking forward to this run.

Bob, make sure you bring your pictures from HC - particularly that panaromic shot. Hey, are we gonna squeeze in a run to Big Bear? I'm sure the fire is out now, we had just under an inch of rain here - and a lot of thunder and lightening.
 
Hey on that note...I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question is NO....but will a snowboard fit in the trunk of the Z4 roadster?

And being that it probably won't....Would it fit in the passenger seat with the top up? :rofl:

I do plan on trying myself tommorow after work. Should have the neighbors quite perplexed as to why i'm trying to fit a snowboard in a sports car at 7am on a monday morning in September.

I have been following this thread as well. Spending the night sounds like a plan. Just need to know the details on where we are going to stay. Gotta admit, though, we may not stay at the designated hotel, though. So, count us in, too.

I will be gone again all next week. I will start a thread on Big Bear when I get back ( Oct. 6 ). I have 35mm pics of half of HC. My digital went lens up on my trip to HC. Rick most likely has some pics and a movie. I think his is all digital. I'll see if I can get a disk.
