Please forgive me if the question is stupid, but.... Should we pack snow chains?

I hope not. :!: WE may find a new use for a credit card though. Something to scrape the windows with.

There is no rain in the forcast so we should be good to go.

I have been in snow, rain, hail, all in the same afternoon in San Diego! We should find great weather for great cars and even greater friends!

Sure are and we well go topless as well.

No coupes signed up to go. And what were you thinking? :poke:

:o There is now a large fire breaking out in san bernardino just below Arrowhead .... right on our route. Also large fire in Simi, Chatsworth, Porter Ranch ... and if history is a predictor of the future, this is just the beginning of our major fire season. :(

I suggest we keep everyone informed here - the hotel has a 72 hour cancellation policy.

If there is a fire, the cancellation should be a moot point! I sure hope this trip happens as planned, it is a beautiful part of our state! All those beautiful trees! Let's hope this will not be a fire storm kind of year for us in CA!

Creative distruction my dear... It happens on Wall Street as it happenes in nature. Last year after the fire that happend on base, right by the checkpoint on the I-5 nature was beautiful!!!!

Well, I guess my post got misinterpreted... I was just trying to see the sun after the storm sort of speak... I've never said fire are cool, but they are part of nature...

I will dress accordingly, no heated seats in my Z but that heater works exceptionally well! Keeping fingers crossed the fires are quickly knocked down.

Instead of a white snow, we'll probably have a grey (ash) snow .... :o

Wind or rain, heat or cold, fire or earthquake, the run is on! :driving:

So far so good! (it looks clear in this web cam anyway) Godspeed to all of the firefighters. It seems we can't we get through October without burning down southern California. :|

On another note, if the group from Lake Arrowhead Resort drives up to Big Bear for the Oktoberfest we might go, but I am thinking we will probably just want to crash at the hotel. Get some dinner and some drinks and hang out and chat. That, and we just did an Oktoberfest in La Mesa earlier this month.
Looking forward to the drive!

The fires are under control and we should be good to go.

Octoberfest is within walking distance from the resort, very close. I feel much like you that after driving all day , I will just want to have dinner and drinks. I'm not as young as I was, or I'm just feeling it more.

The pic in the link is where Octoberfest is held and the resort is 2k feet to the left.

I think they have a limit on the tickets, and you had to purchase them three month in advance at the administration desk there in the villiage. I heard it was cash only the last couple of days the window was open. They only brought in enough beer for the tickets sold.
