So who has been driving in the snow ?????

I tried to go to work this morning, and was overtaken by a van on a B-road. :( Then the traffic was nearly standstill when I approached town. In the end, I got back home and decided working from home at least today.

Well my X5 is frozen solid and if you open the doors they do not catch shut so I'm reduced to driving the Zed when I have an ideal vehicle - such is life.

Still took the Zed to the local Esporta for a bit of tail sliding action in a large empty rear car park they have. It was funny to be able to catch and pass an old Corsa trying to emulate the Zed. Sure he made it round some loops quickly, but only due to narrow tyres on FWD. Zed with TC off was a hoot.

Going into Esporta the receptionist asked if I'd had difficulty choosing a parking space and pointed to the cctv :driving:

I'd be asking for a copy of the tape!

Covered around 80 miles yesterday in the van on winter tyres - I had it booked in for 4-wheel alignment and the bloke was well impressed I bothered coming through the snow to him. Carried out some overtakes too despite the roads not being completely clear between the wheels and up the centre, not a problem at all - there really is NO excuse for 15-20mph on an A-road when the conditions were like that.

I really wish you would correct that title, to "So who has 'BEEN' driving in the snow ?????"... Sorry just the OCD kicking in.
(or CDO, which has the letters in the right order ...... like they should be! arrrrrgggghhhh) :D

Careful with that one, if you check the xdrivers.co.uk forum you will see a number of owners having to replace the cradle due to it breaking off.

Fortunately, us Diesel owners have the Webasto heating in the car which warms it up nicely ... :fuelfire:

I know. Broke one last year. £65 and a real pita to fit

We don't have any more snow in Rotherham. Yet the rest of the country seems to have it, strange. We usually get it worse up here. I think we had enough a couple of weeks ago to last us the next 10 years! It's just a very chilly -10 or something. Not had any problems getting the Zed out though.

How do you change a title once the thread is live? :?
just open up page one of the thread and in your first post it will say Edit at the top right, Click on it and then you will have the post in a box, with the title box above it. you can change the contents of the title box also.... :driving:

Heading back to Suffolk tomorrow for Christmas and looking forward to the drive. Hoping there's still enough snow cover for a few measured country lane adventures

:driving:

Roof down all the way too of course (it's the roadster way), so if you see a slightly frazelled looking man in a filthy looking Zed with grey CSL's remember to wave and say hi

Took my Zed down to the garage last Monday for an oil service and MoT.......its been there ever since :(

Even if I could get it out of there, theres two miles of compacted frozen snow up to our place and theres a three foot snowdrift (frozen solid) across the gate and a foot of snow in the field so guess its hibernating until the weather clears up...oh and a set of Falkens also marooned at Citylinks Cardiff depot since 7am last Thursday....seriously had enough of this shite weather.... :headbang:

This weather is getting beyond a joke...woke up to -16C this morning with worse to come tomorrow, but if the Met Office is to be believed it goes positive from Monday with very heavy rain the next three days....never though a welshman would be glad to see rain!

Rain on frozen ground might give some interesting results as well though ...

The Met Office decided not to issue long range forecasts anymore and quite rightly so (as they're so inacurate). However, they did say this winter was going to be milder than last winter with no prolonged cold spells - wrong
Having spent some time working with the Met Office on a few projects I know what they're like, and the employees often make fun of the forecasts like the rest of us do :). They're quite good these days at marketing themselves as being 'good' however and a 'centre of excellence'.

Totally agree....after years of watching the forecast (as you do in the countryside) I've come to realise that three days ahead is about the degree of accuracy one can realistically expect :?

Driving the Zed this morning was loony. -10c on top of a minor thaw late yesterday, means even supposed clear A roads are mirror smooth.

Still have 6" of snow on anything bar the main A roads. Odd as we usually escape it here.
