So one week on... does the fear go away?

Yes, use the shed for daily runs and if the Zed is being used park away from others but never under trees!! I pick my supermarkets based on good parking areas lol,

Parking away from other cars doesn't always help - it can attract people to park near you! I parked my Z4 at the far end of a virtually empty car park the opposite end to the store. When I came back I had a people carrier one side of me and an old battered Mondeo the other. No other cars. The mondeo was so close I had to drive the car out of the space so my wife could get in the car. Clearly done on purpose - they were willing to walk the length of the car park just to park next to my car!

The same happened in my Audi yesterday. Parked miles from the nearest car. Came back to find my car with another next to it - both cars sitting 20 spaces from the nearest car!

i guess its just me here that realizes that in the end, its just a car?

id hate for anything to happen to mine but i'm also not paranoid about it...

I agree, people do it on purpose. Just let their tyres down before you drive off ;)

So did my first trip to the supermarket earlier this week...

Turns out my local morrisons has a special parking space for people like us... right at the back corner of the car park a single space (surrounded by a curb/ pavement/ shrub border) which is well away from any other spaces with no real reason for anyone to drive or walk past!

I was going to take a photo but it was raining stupid heavy so next time I'll take one, would be a good contender for the parking photo thread/ competition that was going a short while ago.

The fear leaves as the dings arrive. :(

Same, since reversed into a concrete post I'm not so paranoid about leaving my car in car parks anymore although I do park far away where theres fewest cars still

No you are not alone, as I have said on this forum many times before there are much more important things to worry about.
