So much to fix 😭

I think you can adjust the angle when removing one black plug under the door. There is a 10mm bolt.
Mine had this bolt loose and window rattling around.

That's true - there are two bolts there that let you adjust the window backwards/forwards and change the tilt angle on the same axis as the door. I tried that but I unfortunately need to change the camber (so get the window closer to the window seals) which is only possible when taking of the door cards as far as I know.

Try some Gummi Pflege Rubber Care Stick 100ml on seals- follow instructions. it may help to soften rubber and regain its shape. Got rid of all the creaks and groans on my E89's roof and windows

[ref]Thadeus1991[/ref], I had a similar problem with wifey's E85 door seals.
They did soften up a bit with the Gummi Pflege, but to get a really good seal at the top rear corner I ended up inserting some thin strips of rubber underneath the seal to bring it back to meet the glass.

I managed to do my own brake pipes on the driveway in half a day, it's really not a big job if you prepare and get the tools etc that you need. Getting the rear right one in is a bit of a pain as it runs above the subframe next to the fuel tank, but if using kunifer/copper popes you just push it through straight into the clips then shape the wheel side in situ.

If it makes you feel any better I bought my project a month ago and it’s needed new front arm, new tyres, new wipers, one of the xenon bulbs is flickering, one of the wheels was buckled, battery died and there’s still loads of odds and sods to sort 😂😂

Will all be worth it though 👍

That starter motor will get worse and worse until it stops working. £50-75 for a new one and a very satisfying job (i.e. lots of shouting and swearing, but it turns out OK) to do.

I think I'd be replacing that Disa valve as the consequences could be curtains.
I did think about that and was worried but Ross advised that the valve usually gets noticeably noisy before failing and doesn’t lead to catastrophic failure on the N52 engine, only on the M54 (in Z4 that is). So I’ll trust his judgement on this as he has a wealth of experience.

Ahh - I wish I’d known about this fix before and I’d tried it. I already had RBM order the part from Germany, so it’s too late to return that now. Anyway, the seal was £50, so not the end of the world.

What about the parking brake? Did Ross adjust that?
I forgot to ask about that tbh 🙈. That’ll be a question for next time!

Hahaha - that does really make me feel a little better. But good to hear that your fixing yours up and you right it will all be worth it in the end 😊

[ref]mjennings23[/ref] and [ref]Zedebee[/ref], thanks for the tips. I think the brake pipes are a too involved a job for me as I don’t really have much (or really any) mechanical experience. The starter motor is something I could possibly see myself attempting but I live in London, parked on the road with no access to a drive way, so that makes any complex-ish repairs quite difficult!

Try this for parking brake adjustment

Does it have oil leaks? If not, your Z4 is perfect. :)

These are not so big problems, all that comes also with the age. I also get wind noise from the driver window, at speeds over 150 km/h, but hey, I had a Lotus, so for me Z4 is really quiet.

Other than that, you have a nice car, and all these things will be sorted, it is the enjoyment of sorting things that makes us great Z4 owners. :)
