So, Is Vettels car rigged ??? or not ???

Hmmm some very interesting views guys and girls, my tuppence worth is that I don't think V is that far ahead of his peers in the talent stakes, I do feel that he has the best overall package in this season and I think his package is better than that of his team mate. As for conspiracy well time will tell but I sincerely hope not :( My neighbour works for Mercedes and early on in the season he said that next season will be the one to watch and he also tipped force India to do well too, always look forward to the next season :D Big question is where will Ross go? :o

The big issue with F1 - is the reliance on front and rear wings to generate downforce. This means that following another car disturbs the air over the front and rear wings, depriving the "follower" of grip, making it impossible to get close to another car through a sequence of corners.

What we need is bring back ground effect. Ground effect generates massive downforce, but doesn't need a clean air supply over the front and rear wings. Essentially, driving through any air will generate downforce.

They were due to bring back ground effects in 2013, but it was cancelled. Indy Cars is the USA use ground effect really well.

I'd like to see wider cars too, which will encourage slipstreaming....

Adamski and the Govnr are spot on.. Vettel is that good, RB are clean.
Should be interesting next year if the Renault engine isn't up to it though, toys will leave pram at warp speed :)

Its a far more efficient way to create downforce. It's more economical. Less fuel used, lighter car, faster car blah blah :)

He wasn't pulling out 2 secs per lap at the end though!

Once he'd built up the 30 second lead he just maintained it rather than carried on increasing it.

there's something different about his car - at this level we'd be talking tenths of a second margins, not whole seconds.

Best bit of the race was Alonso exiting the pits and toughing it out with Vergne even though he was off the track limits...talk about commitment

is anyone forgetting that vetel is only 58Kg in weight? webber is 75... if they don't carry some sort of ballast to counteract this then this will have an effect, combine it with all the other stuff and away you go.

Lets be fair - Brawns successful season stemmed from the fact they had pushed to a hairlength of the rules and it took other teams half a year to develop and catchup.

Fast forward to 2013. Red Ball have done the same. The difference being most other teams (I believe) are and have been developing for 2014's multitude of rule changes. I thing many had written this year off a long time ago.

Just an opinion.

I think it's down to a combination of Red Bull making the best use of Coanda-directed exhaust gases to seal their diffuser, and the fact that Vettel drives in a way that is extremely sympathetic to the aerodynamic features of his car. He's a f*cking fast driver anyway, but the 1st to 2nd gap is always exaggerated by the fact that he is especially good at getting his tyres working quickly, which allows him to get away while the guy in 2nd place is stuck in DRS range of the car behind and hence has to drive defensively.

He is irritating sometimes though. It's the finger mostly... and maybe the crazy frog noises. The Austrian national anthem is also an utter dirge.
