So i have agreed to jump out of a working air craft.

As above basically.... My wife's best friends boyfriend is a jump instructor for the RAF. I am changing his brake discs and pads and doing a service on his car. In payment he is going to push me out of an Aeroplane 15,000 feet....

It will be an assisted free fall. So on my own not a tandem jump!! I trust Adam but i am a bit scared!!

So you sort his car an then get pushed out of a plane there is no upside to this. I only get on a plane because there's a holiday at the end of it.

I cant believe people jump out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft when its going to land soon after and its much warmer and more comfortable sat inside !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll love it Matt, I've done a tandem in the UK and AFF in California, the AFF is miles better than a tandem as you're in control

The initial step out of the aircraft is the hardest, after that it's the world's best fairground ride....

Lol yeah i know why jump out....

I am sure i will Perry it appeals to me and the fact i like putting myself in unneeded harms way... Adam says they have more RAF personnel injured from mountain biking than anything else. I used to love DH mountain biking so it looks like i will like this.

And anyway if it dose go really really badly. I wont be worrying about it for long!!

Don't worry, if that happens everyone else will have a Crater Party....

Oh wow so jealous. I did one a few years ago and it's the best rush ever, the free fall once out of the plane is beyond words. Some people snort and inject crap, some booze for ever for kicks, but all you've got to do is fall out the side door, you'll LOVE it.

The old joke is:

"What happens if the chute doesn't open"?

"Oh don't worry the second one will always open"

"Well why don't they put that one first then"?

I do like and enjoy extreme's. Dont get me wrong i do like a few ciders too.

I can actually tell you why the safety always opens. Highly qualified people pack safety shoots. And just about anyone is allowed to pack a main shoot.

Sorry i know joke ruined!

Good luck
I've always wanted to do it but I value my life too much

Could you not put the event to a good cause and raise money for a charity of your choice?
Just a thought.

With few exceptions, reserves also have to be packed to allow for a Cypres - and you wouldn't want to get that wrong....

Good luck matey!

I've never understood what possesses people to do stuff like this.

Hanging off buildings, wingsuits, parachute jumps, bungee jumps, why why why?

Sorry to lower the tone, but reminds me of a funny 'would you rather'... Would you rather jump out of a plane with only a 75% chance of your parachute opening, or be anally fisted by a dwarf..?

And I agree with Nelly - planes are for flying to hot countries in, not for jumping out of :-)

Not for me Mat  i don't mind working at heights but jumping from a plane a few thousand feet from terra firm ? Errrr no thanks , Il leave it but interesting post to follow as you cack it the closer it gets :D

"Assisted free fall", WTF?! Didn't know such a thing existed. You crazy bastard!

I did a tandem jump in New Zealand a few years ago and that was incredible. I'm sure you'll love this.

Great stuff - always wanted to do a free-fall jump before my 50th and never got to do one and couldn't do one now.

Been to the AirKixs at Milton Keynes and had a go at their wind tunnel freefall - maybe worth a try there before doing it for real?

I've a micolight pilots licence so know what it's like to be 1000s of feet in the air suspended by not very much but to be dropping free like that - brilliant - nearest thing you'll get to flying for real - like I said - Great stuff!

In my 30 years spent as an aviator I have managed to avoid evacuation from any aircraft let alone a serviceable one! Nowt queer as folk!

Strangely it's the freefall bit that would appeal to me - the parachuting I don't think I'd be so keen on - how mad is that? :o

Yep the free fall is the most insane part Paul, there's utter and complete panic as you roll over 360deg from leaving the plane for a few seconds where you know you've lost the plot but then the sheer rush from dropping like a stone takes over, it's pure adrenaline mixed with nothing to dull the sensation, you have to experience it, words can't get close. Utterly mind blowing.
