So how did the 3.0SI became a shabby car?

I would enjoy modding if I had the time, money or knowledge but unfortunately will have to stick to driving the stock 3.0i Z and getting my "jollies" elsewhere.

I agree with what most has been said about modding, its the satisfaction you get form doing something to your car which improves it, or makes it look better (in your eyes) than one from stock.
You will never get your money back from modding, though i guess you could always re install the stock bits and sell the modded items separately.
 
Thats hard to do with engine internals ect.
And i agree, modding a car is heaps cheaper than modding a woman. Body kit...Boob Job, Carbon fibre bonnet....lipo suction. Custom paint Job...membership to sun bed salon. Polish to keep looking young...Botox.
Stone chip repair....Make up. Good Petrol...Expensive meals and alcohol. Good Tyres....Shoes and Handbags. Good sound system...A gag!!!!! lol

Just a few points here--I'm going to keep this car as long as I can (don't like the new one) so I don't worry about resale, I understand that increase in bhp will mean an increase in braking surface in order to compenstate (more go needs more woah). I'd also like a CF roof. Mods are to be done only after warranty is void and when I have retired so I have time to play--maybe even turn her into a track car.

I agree with Lucy, I used to drive a modified RS turbo escort in Volvo gold around Barnsley, sheffield and Notts a few years ago with my friend. It was fast, looked mint and backfired in a cloud of smoke on most trips, but we'd modified it, learnt a bit about mechanics and were proud of what we'd created. It attracted more attention than my Coupe.

We sold it though, shortly after a school girl was shot in Nottingham a police were hunting a gold car with blacked out windows...a bit too much attention for my liking!

At the end of day, its each to their own. Modification isn't just for chav's or those who can't afford a better car. I don't need to work and I do it!
