Get home to be greeting by my gf almost in tears that she's wrecked my car! Turns out she's pulled into the drive and scraped the front-side of the front bumper on the gate hinges.

I need a new front bumper, mines a 55 plate so it's the facelift. Obviously everyones closed at this time, what damage to my wallet am I looking at? I want a new front bumper from BMW :(

I had considered taking this chance to change to an M or aero front bumper but decided against making it look like something it isn't and the aero bumper just doesn't so it for me.

Good job my shares are up this month!

Woah cheers guys, just presumed used would mean they'd be damaged somehow. It coming out of her purse wouldn't make me feel much better with our joint account :(

I'd rather buy from this forum though :)

Is it cracked or just scraped and scored?

If not probably cheaper to just fix it and full respray. Any second hand bumper will need a respray anyway

Tommo, looking at your sig, your car seems to have round fog lights, which would make it pre-facelift, which is consistent with it being 2005 - facelift was 2006.

You can fit the facelift bumper, but just make sure it includes the fog lights and lower grill.

Only looked at it in the pitch black. Feels as though it's scored quite badly. Would a decent repair be noticeable? How much do you think a brand new one would be cj?

About £450 primed pre facelift. Depends on exactly which, headlight washers, etc

Almost any sort of score can be sorted on a bumper, flatted and resprayed. Speak to a local bodyshop

A bad scratch can be fixed..... only if its cracked i would say it warrants a new bumper.

Also as PS states the pic in your sig is a prefacelift..... which if you go to a facelift will need to come with new front fogs.

Yeah sorry guys that's my old Z4. I do know a very good bodyshop but I just presumed with it
being scored a repair would be obvious. Would I be best having the whole bumper resprayed then if it can be repaired?

Ask the bodyshop, but if it were me I'd take it off, strip it and deliver it to them the spray all of it.

Chances are it's got stone chips anyway and then no worries about blending either

You might be suprised how reasonable it will be from Joe @ Soper, well worth a call.

However as CJ has said unless it's broken in half it should be able to be repaired as new.

Ah I forgot about joe. Sorted me out very well on my last car. I'll send him an email just out of curiousity tomorrow, then go and see what the bodyshop say. Cheers for all your help I was instantly thinking £600 ish when she told me.

I bought a pre-facelift bumper complete for the fogs and washers etc, the grills went to another Z4forumite but the bumper is chocking up my garage and owes me very little. Sound unit in Silver needing light prep and repainting, previous owner appears to have melted the lugs that secure a lower grill which fitted fine but would need a simple bond/glue job to ensure a it stays in place.

PM me if it's any use to clear the garage.

That's nothing, the bodyshop will fill it and flat it and repaint it as flat as glass. You should've seen the massive crater they took out of a metal wing on my last car and resprayed, the panel gaps had also been pulled out of line, they fixed it all, adjusted the gaps and you'd never know it was there and they didn't even have to spray the whole panel. Plastics are easy compared with metal repairs, probably get it sorted for £30-40.
