How can I get TV on my Z4's, erm, TV?

Sounds strange, I have a 2003 model Z4 with sat/nav/TV system, only the TV doesn't work. I'm assuming because of the digital switchover; bummer.

So, how can I get digital TV on my TV?

While I'm on it, any way I can play DVD movies on it also? while the car is driving. Not for the driver obviously, but the passenger?

Does it definitely have a TV module fitted? If so and you live in an area thats swithced off then youll need a digital module...which are about £400 if I recall correctly

That was the norm on the test car I had in 2003, reception was next to nothing.

if you already have a tv module you could add a DVB-T box but you'd need to add an av cable first and then connect the digital tuner to it.

Thanks for link, Dave.

Dave, Is this cable easy to install, is it done in the dash-board somewhere, or somewhere else in the car?

Do I need anything else to get it working while the car is driving?

Is this also the same cable if I want to put a DVD player in the car?

Finally, any recommendations of make/model of tuners and dvd players?

Thanks

Double check the cable search ebay/google for BMW AV and a selection will come up, some have extra add ons such as a reverse camera etc, the cable will allow you to add a single AV connection so you could add either a DVD or a DVB-T or a PS3 etc.

When it comes to DVB-T boxes up get what you pay for so do your research.

The cable is very easy to install, the TV tuner is behind the boot carpet behind the seats (if that makes sense) plus you'll need to remove the nav DVD player to get to the back of it, helpful link below

in that link it say's I have retrofit instructions, I don't have them anymore, they where on my last laptop and the hard drive got fried

Nigel, even if you say it's for the passenger, you will still get pulled over for it, as it is a distraction. Personally I wouldn't do it, even though I have it in my car, it's bloody distracting even if your passenger is watching it. Just not worth the risk and retry silly way to go. Unless you have a Range Rover dual screen view!
