Snapped Spring after 4 months!!!

So picked the car up in Oct, didn't start using it till Nov. Go to get in it yesterday and see the top of a rear spring sat nicely on my driveway.

Now i know springs are a common failure point, but when i purchased the car they replaced the springs as they spotted they were broke on the inspection. Its a little frustrating to see they have now gone again so quickly.

I am of course going to get the garage to sort it as the springs are less than 4 months old  , but will also use this as a decent opportunity to stick some Eibach/H&R's on then flog the new springs

Not much other to report other than to have your's checked even if they are relatively new!

Not many M models with broken springs. Even stronger, never even heard of an M having one.

Did I mention M enough in the post?

were they the OEM items? One of mine broke about 4 months into the job. Not looked back since the Eibachs have been in.

Maybe not so common but mines had the rears replaced by BMW, can only assume they had snapped.

I am sure there will have been instances, but nothing like the other models where it was unusual if you had a car which did not snap them.

I've owned my ///M for just over 18 months, never had a snapped ///M spring. Replaced them with the ///M specific Eibach Pro Kit and it has made a big difference, definitely worth an upgrade.

Push your ///M to heightened levels of superiority

Adam will be having a breakdown when he reads this !

Back on topic, I've had to replace the rear springs on all my previous Zed's so I'm expecting it on my latest.

I might consider going Eibachs if and when it does happen

I daren't write that letter in case I get flamed !

Try to avoid the Adamski-checker by writing it the wrong way around, \\\M should do it :D

Perhaps we should have a \\\M poll for snapped springs to see how many have been affected there.

I've got an M, I///m , not sure if you knew. Anyhow, m//y spring broke last m///onth and BMW replaced it under warranty, but only after I questioned them! They said they would usually not cover it but as the mileage is relatively low the manager got them to sort it. Waiting for the other to go ping now! :worshipbmw:

Could you quantity "low" please? My "low" interpretation was stretched last week by 48k being described as low :D

So ... do you tell your patients that you have an M when they have their mouth open?

Low ///mileage indeed was a smidge over your 48k description! Not quite as low as your ///M was, but I guess compared to the rep mobiles they see day in day out it is low for the age. I've got an ///M badge on my ///mirror that I hand them to check themselves in on the way out! It makes their fillings set much quicker, but it does cost the///m more money.

In all seriousness though OP, sorry yes so annoying! Mine was offside rear, had them go on my si previously too. I have stuck with OEM purely to keep the warranty company happy, and to maintain some height as my drive is like a 4x4 track and I couldn't get onto it if the car was any lower.
