I’ve seen a few posts questioning the difference between plug in tuning boxes & proper remaps, this video explains why the boxes are not as good

Boy he doesn’t like the tuning boxes...good if tedious explanation...

I guess if you still are lucky to have a company car / maybe PCP you may still prefer a box.. :tumbleweed:

As you know I’m converted into a re-map with a dyno check

I'm NOT writing this to knock SA Tuning that Rob's quoted above. I'm just disappointed that, when I went to their website for information I wanted on their products and clicked on their introductory video, I got a page of images that tell you nothing and a video that stalls or says "Video Unavailable". https://satuning.co.uk/product/truetuneproduct1/

If they can't make a decent website and make it work, how can you trust them to work on your car?

Yes, you're right, Rob, the video's working now. The separate images of the handset still aren't much use, though.

Agree. That site, videos and links works from my tablet fine. Not tried it on my pc.

He's correct with what he's saying. Tuning boxes and pedal tuners are all the same kind of gaffa tape engineering that thrive on a lack of understanding.

Also a tuning box is just as likely to flag up at a dealership as any remap. There's even a specific BMW fault code to detect sensor discrepancies and flag them as tuning box related.

Oh s**t really? Is there a way to, uh, detect and or clear such codes? Asking for a friend.

The error code can be cleared with ISTA and would be cleared by most devices capable of clearing BMW specific fault codes. The car also stores sensor data called FASTA which would be their main tool if they wanted to deny a warranty claim. Never looked into clearing this so you might have to have a google.
