SmartTop finally ordered... Now Installed.. Dangerously!

Just in case this comment puts people off the SmartTop - it is easy to programme your chosen settings via the indicator stalk... you just need to read (and follow) the instructions. It's also easy to temporarily disable the system if you're having the car serviced - it becomes invisible to any diagnostics.Stark said:

Not for any vanity or show off reasons either.
I've got a dodgy leg problem and it's much easier to get out of the car in my garage with the lid down - I don't like leaving it down. Without the Smarttop it was difficult to squeeze back in and press the buttons / remove the key !
The smarttop cures that problem.
The ability to close the top at low speed is also a plus on those days when it starts to drizzle and the traffic lights turn red than just as you almost get the lid back on , they go green again!
Go for one if you can.

i've had to give up and come inside and dial into a meeting. thought i would take it all out and try again another day but it seems the smart bracket that plugs into the car is broken and can't be removed

It could just need some gentle encouragement. The type of clip/bracket ensures that when pushed fully down the plug is pulled into the socket making a better connection. It should be possible to just pop the top of the clip away from the notch in the plug to allow you to swing it back up and the plug will come out. Get some extra light in there to see what you're doing and you'll see the notch that the clip must be prised (gently) over before it can swing up. Its fairly straight forward provided you take your time and be gentle.. oh and don't have keys in your pocket to make the car try and crush you.
