Smart Top module review

Just wondered how you managed to get your in. I sort of had to wedge mine between the row on connectors, defo not where the picture in the instructions put it. The module is taped on the chassis behind the trim near when the USB cable comes out.

I managed to squeeze mine in where the instruction says, It took a bit of effort but I manage to put it in there.

Does anyone know what these parts are for? One of these slots are empty on my Z4 and it is where I put the module in.

I've no idea! i guess it depends on what options you have. PDC? you can see the options i have on my sig,
i was able to put my module in the transverse slot behind the two you highlighted.
You can see the green light in some of the later photos

You do seem to have more room with wires than mine. Maybe I need to have a fiddle more with the wires. one day and try and pop it the harness where the instructions said.

Well done moonshine anyway, welcome to the world of being able to pull off and still put the roof up and down :D

all those wires scare me
its not that scary.. honest - completely plug and play - 3 plastic connector blocks to plug in - all the wiring looms ar ecomplete - there is no need to mess with any of the wiring... and it is completely reversible. i.e. within 5 min, undo the connectors and take out the loom, and it is back to standard, so you can sell it on when you sell your car. :driving:

and a movie clip of the one touch roof opening & closing

Nice!!!!

(your emergency triangle is blue...sure my box is red!)

I'm tempted with this mod, cos I love those features, just a bit worried about doing it, even though I appreciate its meant to be easy.

sorry about the broken links - i'm faffing with photobucket at hte moment moving files.. I'll fix these in a moment :headbang:

If it's any help for anyone, here's a vid that helped me decide to purchase the module.

I'm guessing this will kill your warranty should the roof fail?

Tim.

Nah, just remove the module before you bring it to the dealership and they'll see no trace of it even being installed. I mean you can connect the USB via laptop and disable it and the dealership wouldn't know it's there unless they actually see the module installed.
